Yamaslut, thanks. Been watching your build, pretty damn neat set-up there. I like the youtube stuff you've made as well.
I know I am a bit anal about my gear. I ride alone (stupid, but there is no -one else around where I live), sometimes in mild surf. I broke down once on the water. I knew that the battery cables were crappy but wanted to fix it off-season. Now I don't take any chances. Plus; on my spare time I don't want to jack around with inferior crap, my gear should always be "turn-key" ready.
So yeah, I am meticulous.....:cool2:

I am back in the saddle again. Been riding and tuning the carb for a few days now. Still on the rich side down low, getting there.

Really happy with the type 4 pipe and new reeds. This thing hauls some serious a$$ now!:brap:
It hits nice from idle and just keep pulling. I need to adjust my riding style, there just so much more juice there... :woot:
This make me curious, how the h€ll do you guys hang on to your ported, stroked, oversized carb equipped monsters???:hail:

Last winter I tore the ski down, the engine needed an overhaul. New crank, Protec-ported 61x cylinder and new seals and gaskets. I also painted the bottom of the ski. I even faired the tubbies in.
I rode the ski all season, it pulled hard, but it was if it had an light switch, not a throttle. Annoying.

Oh, don't remove the screws in your tubbies...ask me why I know...they fall off....

So this last fall I tore the ski down again. I kept the motor in one piece, it is my back-up motor now. I removed the tubbies and turf. I gutted the tray, there was 2" of water standing there...time to refoam.

So what motor to put in? I've read the feedback on the forums and decided to jump on the Team Scream band wagon. I had an 61x cylinder in good shape which I shipped to Clearwater. I got some used 64x cases and a crank from Wetracer, some ADA domes from Weston, a #.0 lightened 62 t flywheel and cover from jetmaniac and some billet couplers from Idok. I even got a complete set of SBN 46's and R&D intake with some OEM F/As from xjetrider, already modified by Team Scream. All was sent out to Chucky and Radney for some love. I decided to go with a Baby Scream package. By using the 64x cases there should be room for a big bore if needed. After trying to get my hand on a used b-pipe (without being ripped off...) I got a new one from Blowsion. FP will only ship to your billing address if you use a CC so....

I ground/chiselled out the excess green glue in the bond line. I will try to loose some weight while at it (on the ski, that is). The previuos owner had repaired the right side around the bondline. The repair was well done, but for some reason he sprayed both the sides on what looked to be filler. God, I hate sanding... After all the foam was out, I reinforced the sides of the tray and bay. I used white dye for the bay, I want it light in color and didn't feel like adding the work of painting it. I sealed all the throught hull fittings and added a tube for a future trim cable. I also decided to get some hull drains. I drilled a 6 mm hole in the low corners of the chines. I put some grease on a M6 screw and put a S/S nut on the inside. Clean the nut with aceton and made some epoxy-carbosil peanut-butter and put it on the nut. Let it dry and removed the screw. Just trimmed off some of the "glue" to clear the passage. Done!
BTW, this tool is the sh*t to get the ribs out!

When I realised a refoam was needed, I checked to see how everybody else went about to fix it. I ended up going the polypropylene route. I also used some 2-part foam to "glue" the pieces together. The bulk of the foam is PP. All of the foam around the foot holds will be 2-part. I used one of those "break-off" knives to cut the pieces. Just cut halfway through and just break if off at the cut works really well.

I cut out my old surfjetlouie footholds. I wanted some more cushion (yeah, I am old) and got a 25 mm set from tom21. Glassed them in and reinforced the tray with a few layers of glass. I also installed some front footstraps mounts(the right way this time, not by drilling holes in the tray:grumble:). They're the acorn-nut-welded-on-a-washer kind. Sometimes it is good to work in a brewery, surrounded by S/S and guys that know how work a welder.

Going with the bigger carbs meant I will get rid of on/off fuel switch and also external filler. I already glassed the hole shut. I mocked up a form of cardboard and filled the outside of the filler with 2-part foam. I tried forming in while it was curing, to make it somewhat even. I have no plans to repaint the entire ski, just touch up this area. I sanded it to form and used some epoxy and carbosil to fill in the voids. I sanded some more and put a layer of epoxy on with a brush.

I had a buddy over (thanks Jonas) and he helped me foam the footholds in. First we put the ski on its nose and poured. Then we put it on the tail and poured some. Then we placed it flat and finnished it off. By doing this we managed to fill all voids between the PP and the hull. The tray was a bit "springy" before doing this; now it is solid like a rock. Sorry, I only have "after "pics. The foam is messy as a mofo fo' so' so no cameras!

What about that motor, then? Do you know how much it would cost to ship 100lbs of motor to Sweden from Clearwater, FL? Me neither! I went there and picked it up! I told my wife and daughter; "hey you wanna go to Disneyland and Universal Studios (and by the way , pick up a new jetski motor)?" The weather in Sweden in November is...depressing. Even crappy Florida weather would beat it to death. We spent a week in Orlando, I got to ride jetmaniacs ski (thanks Chris), met up with Tem (Superfreak) and also saw and lifted jetmaniacs new hull. One word; light. Wow.
We also spent a couple of days in Clearwater where I met Chucky, Mike and Radney at Team Scream. I even got to ride one of their skis, the 800 cc one.:woot:
I packed all the stuff in my hockey bags, aside from the carbs. For some reasons my airline wouldn't allow parts onboard in the checked bags that had contained fuel. I shipped those out using USPS instead. I already pre-booked extra weight for the trip home, good thing I did. Everything arrived home safely, I packed the stuff WELL...
Here it is, assembled and ready for pressure testing.

This is the TS modified limited b-pipe. I also got some diddy-bolts and ss hex bolts for it on the way.

I decided to get rid of the oem tank and water box rubber mats and use turf in order to save some more weight. Cleaned the hull and installed some b-stock.

I sanded my tubbies some more. I think this is the last sanding before paint. Then I need to wet sand since I'll just paint part of the bottom. Did I mention I hate sanding?

I started preparing for turf. I have an order in transit for b-stock and 25 mm soft underpad. I got these small strips of turf installed so far.
I put a coat of resin all over the footholds to seal them as per tom21's recommendations.

I decided to move my bilge outlet from the side to the top of the gun whales (spl?). I glassed it shut while reinforcing. I wanted to look a bit better that half a$$ed, so sand, putty , repeat. I put a coat of black paint on to sand for (I sure hope) the last time. It is brushed on. I did the same with the fuel filler.
