I got them from a Swedish company. I have read here that there is an US based company that let you order a small amount of these for free. Search this forum for that.

I glued the turf to the plastic. First I glued some underpad on (after sanding and cleaning the plastic ) and then I shaped the pad and just glued the turf.

I finally got some work done this weekend. I wet sanded the bottom of the hull and finnished it off with some polish. I almost sanded through the paint in some places, but I can live with that. Continued on with turfing. I decided to try the no seam method. Came out pretty ok. The turf doesn't like being wrapped inside out and upside down. I had to make a small hole and inject more glue with a syringe to make it stick well. Heat is your friend...

I wanted a sleek look so I made this plate to make the low profile primer even lower. I'll post some pics later of the finnished result of that.

I must say this is a very well thought out and precise build you are having there. Too bad I am still young and impatient :)

I do realize however, that precision = more time on the water...

Pressure testing: where do you hook it up? Pulse line on the cases? I understand that this type of testing must be done when engine is fully asssembled (with inatke + carbs)?

Great nice work, looking at this build is like reading a nice illustrated DIY book on skis :)

Thanks, since I only can work on this thing every other weekend, I have plenty of time to prepare my work in my head...
Pressure testing;
You hook it up to the pulse line, I think there are a couple of pics earlier in this thread that shows how to hook it up, look at post #44. I try to assemble the motor as much as possible with both intake and exhaust manifold on it.

So I've been busy this weekend. My ebox paint started to flake so I decided to clean it up and paint it. I'll adjust the rev limiter and put a new seal/gasket in there before I'll close it up. It was (still) dry and nice inside.

I fixed the front some as well. Made a backing plate from 2mm S/S and installed the hood hooks. Closed up the holes for the oem nose piece holder with some silicone. Wil not need those...
I put a final coat of coat on the fuel filler while at it.

I worked with the turfing. Man, the hours fly by if you're a bit anal with turfing. I am very happy with the results! I even installed the foot strap.

I put the starter on the motor and dropped it in. I even had time to shim it properly. That's all for now, I'll be back in a few days.

I had a few days off around the Easter weekend so I worked on the ski. I finished working on the e-box and installed box, stator and flywheel.

I installed the b-pipe. That thing is a handfull to install (compared to the type 4 pipe it replaced). I had to make the pad under the waterbox thicker to make the pipe fit properly. I also installed small bits of turf on the hull and tank to make sure the chamber doesn't rub. Since I ride in cold water (35-75 F) I asked Chucky if I need any restrictors in the water supply. He recommended 5.5 mm on the INLET side. I found out that if you modify some old Mikuni seats they fit the inlet tube really snug, they need a few careful taps with a hammer to fit. All cooling lines and fuel lines are in place. I have tried to make a clean install, being careful to avoid kinks or risk of rubbing. I also test mounted the fuel tank. I'll install my new R&D lowered pole bracket I got from Ruis Racing and my Tom21 lowered hood and nose piece soon. Those items are ( I hope?) on the way here. I also found out that the bushing for the bendix in the mag cover is missing. Unclear why/how, trying to get a new one fast. Worst case I steal the cover from my backup motor until I get a bushing.
There is still ice on my lake, but in a few weeks....:headbang:

I managed to squeeze in 2 hours of work this weekend. Made a bracket for my comming brap-strap out of 2 mm SS. I installed some turf in the battery box to keep the battery from bouncing about. I even polished the top of the ski (no pics of that). Starting to look good. My new hood and the other stuff should arrive within a couple of days. :bigok:

My stuff arrived the other day. I installed the new pole bracket. It is a nice piece of metal. I drilled and tapped a hole for the holder for my limiting rope bungee. I had to drill some more holes in the SS backing plate as well.
The pretensioner for the oem spring works really good. I had to shorten the spring about an inch.
I used my sewing machine and made some brap straps. I wedged the straps between the bracket and hull.
I had to use the oem nose bracket after all. Tom made a bracket for the nose piece so there's no need for a screw in the front. I mocked up the hood, I haven't installed the hooks yet. I asked Tom to get some RN blue gelcoat for my hood. It is very close in color. I just need to wet sand and polish it for a nice shine. I'll also install some pieces of turf where the straps and ratchet go. I'll probably put some around the handholds while at it; they're a bit sharp.

I'll need to trim the nose piece some more. This nose piece is designed around an X-metal bracket. My bracket is 1" lower AND 3/4" more forward. Plus I use a stock (well, I did chop 5" off it) RN pole with it. After that I need to drill some holes for the breather tubes.
Then just trow the tank in and go ride (sort of). Anybody out there with a good idea how to put the tank in without vaseline and brute force? I am all ears...:sadwavey:

It is substantialy lighter. I'd say the quality is good for the price. The bonding between inner and outer shell is well made, gelcoat is nice and even. It needs some wet sanding and a polish for that nice shine. Packing was really nice. I think there's a wait list, you'd better check with Tom before placing an order. It took me about a month from money sent to hood sent.

where did you get that cart for your ski? any chance you can post a picture of it for me so I can fab one up for myself...could probably do it from the pics you have but....

Sick ski by the way!!:bananalama:

Nice progression and attention to detail! Could you go into a little more detail on the strap bracket you made up? Did you loop the strap through it then sew it, or just wedge it in there between the bracket and the turf? I'm also anxiously awaiting my tom21 hood - looks well built. I'm also having him make up the clean nosepiece attachment.

I got it when dumpster diving! A local welder made this to be used as a cart for plastic boxes at a place I used to work at. When they reduced the production these went into the dumpster, I fished one out. I could get you a couple of pics in about 2 weeks, I am on the road.
Thanks for the thumbs up, btw!
