spambots scour forums and snag anything that looks like an email address. It gets added to the spam list

if you add spaces to you email addy and then type a note "remove spaces..." then you won't get the spam cause whawt you posted is not a true email addy

Eventually the bots will be programmed to remove the spaces and convert the "_at_" symbols themselves.

For some unknown reason I get about 75 spam daily in my gmail:frown:
But spam filter usually catches it:arms:

FWIW,

You can use a 3rd party email program (MS Outlook, Outlook Express) with your gmail accounts.

Just change your POP port to 995 and SMTP to port 465. Enable "requires authentication" and your done.

The great thing about this is most companies or ISP that firewall outside POP/SMTP access are open to these odd ports.
