Nice work man. I forget, did you go with the 2" polystyrene? Did you put drain plugs in yet? Are you using any expandable 2 part foam?

Thanks for your vote on color!

no i have been email back and forth with Dan from Highroller Customs, he suggested to do the water bottle way. since i only ride in lakes and am no where near the coast, that the Octane hull is strong enough to handle it. i ended up putting in a XFT scupper valve, i kept the drain plugs that i installed from Watcons a couple of years ago. i ended up resealing everything in the back and taking the exhaust out and re riveting it and sealing it. i cutting 2 holes in each side of the firewall so i am able to have all the water flow back and exit out the scupper valve. i also have the automatic bilge pump to help.

i ended up putting as many as i could i had to put a vise on the tray to set it down so the tray was flush. i also put as many bottles in the gun whales. the bottles have no way to move.
I am thinking about doing this but my octane might be used in the surf every now and then and I am not sure how it would hold up.

it should hold up if you repack it with foam when you are done. also make sure you put thick layers of fiberglass down. i put 4 layers of fiberglass down on mine, but i dont do any surf riding.

I got about 2 layers laid down in my tray now. I don't know how much more to do because I am pouring in 2 part foam in the gunwhales and to fill in voids under my tray. The filler I used (Microballoons and polyester resin) seems really strong.

I will be pouring foam tonight then filling in some deep scratches on the bottom. Almost ready for paint.

FlightRisk make sure you dont add to much foam because it might not dry correctly. and will need to expand somewhere. i have heard of adding to much foam and possibly starting to crack hull where it was patched.

Foaming sucks. That stuff is sticky and expands REALLY rapidly. I think we used just enough. I could feel heat from the chemical reaction all the way up the gunwhales...

For some reason my glassing was'nt quite cured... I'm not sure if we mixed enough hardner with the resin. I will put on at least one more 'hot' layer before being done. Pics soon.

Today I reworked the Wamiltons footholds. I don't have a lot of lateral movement in my feet so I need a way to be able to get into the footholds easier. I cut the tops of the rail and shaped the foam we poured in yesterday. Turned out really well!

THANKS 58VWRAGTOP!

We glassed in 2 layers on the footholds and 1 more layer in the tray. One more layer to go....

Also a pic of the new carb setup.

FlightRisk here is the pro-tec trim kit i have been modifying, i measured the degrees i am now getting out of it and it is 46 degrees. i am trying to figure out how i want to cut my hull because the nozzle is now hitting it. does anyone have any suggestions? i am still working on the trim since the nozzle sticks out more my steering cable isnt long enough, as i am having to modify my nozzle. Let me know what you think everybody.

What material is the octane pump made of? I need to know so I can weld some inserts to thread into for the trim on FlightRisk's ski. That pump ways a ton and looks like a stainless steel cast of some sort.
