Old gas disposal?

spork

down with the sickness
Hmmm I wonder how much laquer i could get from a craiglist want ad? Put it in your lawn mower! I accidentally ran diesel fuel in my parents mower when i was a kid and it took it like a champ (did smoke a bit). Hell it won't hurt anything even with the oil in it just mix it 50/50 with new fuel.
:trink26:

Edit: neighbor also accidentally filled his diesel truck with gas and he drained it and gave the diesel/gas blend to me. The snowmobile didn't mind it at all ;)

Mix it with some stump out.....
But seriously won't the local salvage yard take it. What do they do with all of the fluids they take out of cars? I know there are some junk yards you can buy old gas from.

We did the garbage bag thing with hydrogen. Tie it closed with string soaked in gas. Let if float up (think Zeppelin). Light the string. Nice big ball of sunshine.

I did that once with soem disel or kerosene, can't remember. Well the 4-wheeler didn't like it. I used ot just pour old gas into my grandpa's beater truck. He doesn't drive it enough to do that anymore.

I just use old stuff in my lawnmower.

I do the same, you've got a lot, you could hook up your neighbors mowers, and other gas powered lawn tools as well. Probably go pretty quick! I will admit blowing it all up in a fire would be pretty cool as well.

I have faced a similar problem. Burning bad gas in an engine is not worth the chance of carburetor/fuel injection headache.

The best i can come up with is to fill some coffee cans with rocks and gas and set it on fire. I'm not really happy with the exchange of ground and water pollution, for air pollution.:soapbox:

The rocks sitting in the gas get hot and boil the gas. This causes the gas to burn faster.

The very best solution is to ride a lot and often. The gas does not have time to sour.

If someone would like to start a thread on homemade explosives, i will contribute there.

haven't read through the whole thread, but my city has a once a month hazardous waste disposal program.

I used it once. I had to make an appointment. I went on a saturday to dispose of my old/bad gas. They had a 40 gallon limit.

found the information on my city's website. made the appointment online.

they needed to keep the containers though. so I put it all in old 1 gallon oil canisters and 2 liter bottles
