Old school R&D/Lamey parts ID?

I picked up this motor tonight. A friend bought it for me in Japan, and it took me 3+ months to finally get it here.

It's an old R&D engine. There appears to be ZERO porting (which to me is good, it means no one screwed it up). It's a cast R&D cylinder, that I think is the same thing as a first gen DASA cast cylinder. I heard Ed Brazina says they are different, and prefers the R&D cylinder.

The pistons are Wiseco's and the bore is 81.5mm. The crank has billet webs and is a +6mm stroker.

The head is a cast R&D head. I can't figure out what all the bosses on top are for. I circled them in red. Does anyone know what they are for? There are two 10mm threaded holes on the top of the cylinder (circled in red). They almost line up for a girdle kit, but they DON'T. Plus they are threaded and a girdle kit would be straight through.

The bosses on the top are probably for the R&D red pipe. It attaches just like a OEM pipe

Two of them do seem to line up with two of the stock holes, but what about the other holes, and the tall stuff at the back of the head?

I only know of one R&D pipe, and it has nothing attached to the head. Are you thinking of the Riva red pipe?

Thanks for the help.

which exactly stock cylinder head is that? a stock from the sit down boats have different pipe mounting bosses if I remember correctly.

Look again at the picture showing the transfer ports. Plus this pic should remove any doubt:

100% agree, but it does seem like it was styled after at 62T cylinder.

You are right about the 62T thing. It must be a Raider thing? I have a molested 62T cylinder here and it looks like the same tabs this R&D cylinder has were cut off so this stock 62T cylinder could run a 61X style girdle kit.

Looks like R&D made a pipe BEFORE the semi-dry/dry pipe version that I have. It looks like a 650SX pipe with a manifold adapter (like Blowsion sells now) to run it on a Yamaha.

Again,

The Riva/R&D/Lamey are the same casting of each vintage, only the boss on the side denoting the name is different, the rest is casting variances.

As far as I can tell it looks like the very first vintage Lamey.

Looks like you remembered correctly. The bosses at the back of the head are for the "other" 62T pipe that the sitdowns used:

I never noticed their exhaust bracket is towards the back of the head while the SJ bracket is on the front of the head.

I am curious to feel how it runs versus Scott's Lamey he got from Roo (6 mil, 81.5mm bore, Kawasaki flat top pistons, power valves). Although a true back to back is no longer possible since Scott's is at DASA right now getting resleeved and bored to 85mm.
