I currently have a set of stock reeds and cages and a set of 1st gen rad valves (maybe dual stage boyesen reeds but not sure). I don't know how old either of them are but they will be going into a big bore motor with high compression. Both sets appear fine. Just trying to figure out which ones to run.

From my understanding rad valves are better period. I found a site explaining the difference once but can't seem to find it again

if the rads are good, id run those. stock ones do just fine but the metal petals arent worth the risk on a motor you spent money on. imo
X2!!! I didn't realize they were stock reeds, Rad valves also slightly increase compression because they seal much better, your stock reeds obviously will leak back in to the carbs slightly

I bought a set of used VF2s from Chik 3+ years ago and they still look like new. I have a set of new petals to go on them but can't see the point in it as the ones in there now look perfect and perform perfectly. I have installed alot of VF2s in alot of motors for people and have had 0 complaints. Now VF3s? Thats another story.

i am a big boyesen fan, i went from carbon reeds to v-force3's and hands down!! v-force wins, ski denffinitely performed better, picked up on responce and pulled harder mid range. only boyesen set up i run now is the rad system they make for the 800. the reeds and intake together
