Who and how have y'all repaired PROK FA's? I bought two new ones this past spring and both of them fell apart. I hate to trash them. What's some of the remedies you guys have used? I was thinking cleaning real well with rubbing alcohol and using some JB weld on the lip and RTV silicone on the inside to make the lip larger?

I agree trash with capital T. Using Riva cone filters now. I'm running dual 44's now and don't have a stock 64x setup.

I agree about the K&N's being the most durable filter available. The element is very solid and the adhesion between the upper and lower body to element is very solid. They withstand the extreme vibration of the 800's very well. Prok's are nice when space is limited. For what it's worth, we have K&N's and Proks in stock:

The K&N's would qualify for free shipping if you ordered 2. I will personally make sure you are taken care of.

Thanks!

i repair them by drilling holes and putting them together with 2 zip ties ,with silcone over the ties and holes. so far it has held up really well. i tried epoxy before and it didn't hold.filter.jpeg

can you take some photos of the problems you are having?
I've ran proks and tau cetis
the cetis finally came apart om my ski, but they were 6+ years old, so not bad
i've used proks for a while with no problem, one slight downfall, just seems more susceptible to getting water in, usually a quick plug change changes that problem
but i'm happy with them

i do have the tornado's from blowsion on her ski now, they are pretty stout
sort of like a tau ceti and prok mated together lol (in a way)

the K&N 42RK filter '' rubber top'' cost me my top end , they were 3 years old '' 4 max '' . My eng shook them to pieces, That was a $400 mistake ! Im going back to stock Fa's with risers to clear the ada head . so I believe AM Fa's do have a service life , and it would be 2 years if I was to use them ever again

Man im surprised everyone has had such problems... I have had USED proK's for two years now with no issues and actually just slammed the motor into the hood liner on a backflip attempt where i broke motor mounts the other day. Both F/A's got a bit smashed/dented, but they still work fine.

And at 40 bucks a set for used ones, they work fine for me. Get a good sealing hood/hoodseal combo and you don't have to worry about water ingestion issues either.

Since I am running dual 44's with an aftermarket manifold, I would have to use two single 44 flame arrestors and risers to make it work for me which is expensive for a device which stops backfires.

give me one advantage of running expensive (junk) air filters over stock
1. A/M filters offer better sand filtration.
2. Better overall air flow CFM.
3. Lighter than the stock air box.
4. No snorkel tube box for rats to build a nest.
5. They just look way cooler than stock.

I was thinking of this idea. Thought about running a ziptie through the sides, near the top and around top and back through the inside. I had the inverted plastic center cap fall out of the top and nestle down into my carb bell. No big deal, but both FA's did it about a week apart. I was riding and all of a sudden it felt like the gas cap was off. Had to limp back to the dock and found center cone down in the carb. Switched back to my old Riva's that have held up for 2 years and I bought them used off of T Curtis. So you know they've seen some action.

I've always listened people tell me stock is either the best or as good as any AM arrestors. I figured I'd get at least a season or two out of brand new Proks. I don't know of any real benefits other than they say that they breath better, but if it's breathing better it's got to be better at water ingestion too. I haven't run outer wears before, but may try them if I continue to run aftermarkets. I like the low profile of the proks, blowsion, tau ceti's, but for the money they sure are sheeet. Ought to be easy to secure a wire cage to two pieces of rubber....I heard a guy once say "We people on the moon for Chr**tsake, we oughta be able to have somebody make____." His buddy replied: "I don't think the same engineers work on both things." No kidding.

Carb adjustment is a nice benefit, but I've got some new blackjacks coming from Art and I plan on not having to adjust them things for quite sometime.
The only thing I can think of is that the stock F/A on dual carb motors makes it hard to reach the carb adjusters - but even so, I don't understand why so many people go with aftermarket filters.

Pro-k's suck ballz. Ive got 6 of them in a drawer, all falling apart. In a pinch I drilled 3" sheet rock screws through to cone into the airfilters element. Worked for about a month until i got some tau ceti's
