Surfriding Shorty and rockered hx

I half expect WFO to come in here and claim that he already did this.
I think it's a pretty cool project, the HX looks way better than a WB1, good to see people doing something different.

I'm sure he would have if he wasn't banned. Although he wouldn't have actually done it just the idea of it and everyone else is copying his original concept.

nice man! looks like it might work out. HX's have tons of potential and do look pretty good. a couple feet of front and back and a lightweight hood would likely knock 50 lbs off! tons of great motor and pump options to upgrade to as well for cheap.

Yea I did some measuring today and with a few small relocations I can lose 12" off the front with minor shortning of the hood. And 4 inches off the back making a total of about 16" give or take an inch once it's all said and done. No shortning will happen between the motor and pump so no special made drive shafts or other driveline parts keeping this the ability to stay a fun budget build ski.

so today i got the cuts close. just goota make some final clean up cuts then start glassing back together. here are the previous pics fixed and loaded from my home comp and recent pics of my progress.

Back chopped and front is simi back together and ready for glass just a couple more minor adjustments and then it's shape and glass time. Just put a tape measure on it and I am at 89" from front to back

there is a lot of open space in an hx. when you compact the parts rights where they are in safe mounting locations while also saving space you can shorten a hx a lot. thats why when i got to looking at other hx 787 builds and saw all the open space and then saw carterB's rocker kit i contacted him to help me out with a peice and it fits nice with only minor adjustments . i was able to lose about 13-14 inches up front and 5-6 in the back. if my memory serves me right i think the ski measured in at 109" stock and is now at 89"

So I'm down from 108" to 89" makin for a loss of 19" off the leangth. I would say with 19" of loss the rocker nose the trim kit and a built 787 this should be a fun surf ski!!
