300/440/550 Still having starting issues 89 js550

If i have strong spark, good compression, and use the primer to dump fuel in why won't it start? All that I get is one to 2 backfires out of the carb and that is rare.

If you are getting strong spark and good compression, try to dump just a little bit of premix in each cyl. it should start like that, even if it only runs for a second. the compression on my 550 is about 145 per cyl.

Sorry guys rookie mistake, i was using a faulty compression gauge. New gauge won't even read 30. Any suggestions besides new rings. Maybe good place to purchase them.

battery is on trickle charge all the time and with throttle all the way open or closed read exactly the same. i ordered piston rings from sbtonline.
