1) when running single carb on 62t cases can i just plug one of the pulse fittings on the case, does it matter which one?

2) paul at lpw just gave me jetting specs for my motor and the 46mm carb, he said full throttle was out of the question for more than 3-5 seconds. How am I suppose to tune the high speed without going full throttle?

you can plug either one.

the talk of not running wot on a single carb ski makes no sense to me. I've done it often with a single carb 62t motor. hell, the 61x is single carb, why is fine with that? that single carb meters both air and fuel, you could run a single 38 without melting stuff.

thanks,

As far as the no WOT with the 46, paul said that because the cases are heavily ported and the cylinder is ported with more of a race job (raised ports) that at high rpms the motor would starve for fuel and seize, he recommended that i upgrade to an aftermarket single. he did however provide me with a complete jetting and ns recommendation along with a high speed and low speed adjuster positions, I was just concerned as to how to tune the highspeed if it was off from his recomendation since he said no WOT

Out of curiosity, what manifold and reed combo are you running? Also, what jetting specs did he give you?

im running the single riva manifold. The reeds are dual stage boysen carbon reeds. paul told me to run:
150 Main
120 Pilot
2.5 NS
80g Spring
1.75 turns out on High speed
1.25 turns out on Low speed

I just read where you have ported cases and race ported cylinders. That would explain why you jetting is way richer than mine.

right now i just put in a 145m 125p 2.3ns with around 14psi, i might give that a shot depending if i have time to put it all together this week before my ns and jet come it

I'm still stumped on how a 46 will lean out. if someone can explain it to me I'd appreciate it.

here is my bet, no one will be able to explain it because it's not true.

Seriously do people understand how carbs work

If you have more airflowing through a carb then you get a larger pressure drop across a jet
this makes more fuel flow through a jet

There is no way any carb company would make a carb that can not flow enough fuel to cover the amount of air it can flow

i got the motor in tonight, fired right up then wouldn't cut off until i primed the piss out of it... could have been the ********ty fuel line i was temporarily using, or the primer line that popped off idk but it sure as hell sounded GOOD while it was reving. any chance it would diesel due to too small of a pilot jet or is it more likely that the fuel lines are to blame? i may do a leak down test tomorrow if i cant figure out the issue.

you need to pressure test the engine to find out if it has an air leak
it will not be to small a pilot jet as with the throttle plate closed its not drasgging on the pilot jet
its pulling on the idle circuit only

thats what i thought, i just did a leak down test and the phucking new riva manifold and new gasket are leaking... all the bolts are torqued too. should i just goop it up with gasket maker and call it a day?
