for anyone that may be interested.... I have switched to another seal... I use the HT 25mm underpadding cut about 2" wide...and it is tighter than a frogs ass.... I'll snap some pics...

slut, how did you cut out of the padding, like 1 few strips to go all the way around, 4 for each side, etc??

two pieces... one on the front lip and one to wrap around the rest. It's sooo tight that I have to sit on my hood to get it to seal after it sits in the garage all week w/ the hood off...

check this... instead of putting the padding in the intended spot on the front lip, I put it so the padding is actually on the little wall below the bracket... That way when you put the hood in the hooks and push it down to seal it the front side of the hood and the small wall area below the bracket pinch the gasket material so there can't be any water intrusion... The gasket on front wall is approx. 3" wide... up to the hood hooks from the original gasket area...

I rode for 1hr sunday and my motor never got wet.... yes... the top of my head still had the wd-40 on it... I was very impressed...

It's nice to see you are putting our product to good use.
Just a little info for you blaster riders, our hood seal gasket for the JS300,440and 550 fits the Blaster as well. I think you have to trim an inch or two for a good fit.

I like to experiment w/ different gaskets... They don't seem to last very long w/ me

pics of my first instal. it's not pretty, but very effective. I'm sure it could be made to look nicer w/ some attention to detail... I just cut the foam w/ a hand saw and did it up to see how it would seal...

first pic - shows how the hood fits the gasket on front lip.
second pic - overall shot
third pic - I filled in the "U"shaped area w/ a foam strip then put the 25mm padding on top of that. Notice how the gasket material extends from the edge of engine compartment lip to the outer edge. This makes a tight fit and kinda gives it stability. Not to mention it seals on the outer and inner parts of the hood along w/ the flange on the hood...
fourth pic - shows the seam. I will do something to make this better if need be
fifth pic - shows the depression the hood flange leaves and how deep it seals...

It's some crap we had laying around at work... I really don't know what it is... I'm almost sure it came from Bri-Tech..

im going to try filling the channel with clear silicone and the laying 1/8 rubber on top of it, then bonding some 1/16 ribber to the peice on the hood that goes in the channel, making it a rubber on rubber seal and the silicone giving it the squishiness it needs.
