Go ahead & shorten it. You can always run a long rideplate on it if it rides too nose high for her. I use an extended Protec plate on my -3.5 SN hull. kinda the best of both worlds. If I run a short plate that is flush with the back of the hull, it only wants to BOB and not get up on plane easily.

You have to understand.... while I talk a lot, and a lot of smack... this is my first:
# defoam
# refoam
# reinforcement
# foot hold install

I have some composites experience. Hull repairs, sponson install etc.
I understand how it works, but I haven't done anything very complex. I'm not afraid, but I know my limits. I'd rather get this thing finished and on the water than messing around with extra mods that are going to stress me out.

Mentioned it to the wife last night, she said "Good idea... don't mess with my ski, I like the way it rides." Mama said. Mama isn't freaking out over me looking at aftermarket hulls and big bore engines. We want to keep mama happy yo.




Update!
I bought 3/4" XPS foam and the PVC tube for drain channels on lunch today.

I think I've decided to not run a scupper or versiplug. Instead i'll just run a pair of bilges. My thinking is that scuppers let the air out when upside down, and its just one more place for leaks under the tray.

I could be swayed on this... but for now this is my plan.

how could anyone not accept a package from mr. swapmeet. hahah good choice with no scupper i have seen plenty of ski's sink because of them that's for sure. i stick with my bilge and never have an issue although i have friends running the versa plug and they like it or the duck bill.
