Well, I finally got enough projects completed that I was able to bring the skis home today.

ScottS was kind enough to let me store them at his house for the past 3 months. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have somebody like Scott in my life!
We all call him the Godfather because he looks after us like we were family, lol.

Anyways, I wasn't looking forward to this day because I was really enjoying all the free space in the bigger garage but it actually worked out petty good. The garage is big enough that it fits everything and still has plenty of room to move around. I had planned to do a major revamp on the trailer to condense it down but it seems to fit just fine.

We don't have a back yard anymore so the trailer has to stay in the garage now. The good news is, we have the room for it now and the skis will always be loaded and ready to go. The beach tote and fuel jugs will all get mounted to the trailer and I guess I need to find a new home for the rolling cart. I have also been collecting parts to replicate my TBM tote but I really have no need for it anymore sit will either get built and sold or maybe just sold off in pieces.

Here's the new space;

I would move to just get a bigger garage! I have some room to build one but would have to dig the yard up to get it to the same level as the driveway.

Would you double your current mortgage? Cause that was the cost, lol.

We are so much happier in this house though. We have dumped a ton of cash into it already setting it up exactly the way we want it as we can actually see ourselves staying here for a long time.

We never wanted to put any money into our old home because we knew it was a stepping stone.

I'm ordering the parts I need to get the 2T Mini split installed over the next week. It's the last thing on my list of things to do. It probably should have been the first thing I did but it is what it is. I have been trying to avoid mounting the condenser at the back of the house as it's around 100ft run. Copper prices are high right now so it's going to be over $700 just for the line set and wiring, not to mention having to buy extra refrigerant and then take a loss on efficiency due to the length. I already bought the unit so what's another $1000 at this point right? $3000 for an air conditioned workshop seems like a fair price when the temps get into the 90's.

We don't owe anything on our house and that was the another factor. We actually thought about a garage about 10 years ago,at the time it was like 50k.That was why l would move outside the city, find a home in the same price range and pay cash for for it.Get something that had a large out building. And a place l could pee out the back door without a neighbor complaining :)

It’s about friggin time but at least it’s finally complete.

Mitsubishi mini-split heat pump. Rated at 18,000 BTU cooling, 20,009 BTU heating.

Pulled the garage temp down from 83 to 75 in under 40 minutes.

I sat on the back of my ski the other day and had the tongue of the trailer climb the wall. I have the same issue when offloading a ski so I figured out a way to hold it down while also adding a sliver of additional security.

I really need to rework the trailer and get the balance dialed in better but this will work perfect in the meantime.

I had my AC guy back out yesterday, found the leak and got the Mini Split up and running again.

Just in time to test out the heating capability. It was 58F here yesterday but the garage was a toasty 78 within half an hour.

Words cannot express how awesome it is to finally have a climate controlled workshop.

I could have used one the other day for lifting my mill but I haven’t done anything yet. It’s so seldom that I ever need to lift anything and I can usually figure out an alternative. Plus my ceiling would be a pretty limited lift point so it’s probably not a great idea.

My neighbor put in an elevator that is pretty sweet. He paid over $2500 for the kit but I figure I could do it for under $500. I just don’t want it in any of the location that have the headroom to support it. Plus I’d have to cut another hole in the ceiling.

I hear you there. Given the span of the extra wide garage, the truss design does not favor much of a lifting support.
I have decked in a large area of the attic but had to build shelves directly above the walls to handle storage of heavier stuff.

There is a laminated truss run across the full width that could work but the location is less than ideal for anything other than a single lifting point and even then, the rails for the garage doors further limits it's use to about a 4ft square area.

I just went out and eye-balled it some more and the location is actually pretty central to the area I do the most work in so a single hook is dead simple and would probably be all I would ever need.
I'll put it on my list of things to do this holiday season while the attic temps are reasonable.
