Waterproof Battery Quick Disconnect

Im looking for a type of plugs i can install on my ski that would alow my battery to be disconnected rather easily and pulled out. This would also allow me to have another batter with the same kind of connector to throw back in the ski if i wanted.

The reason i ask is the SJ i just purchased as total loss.. well.. i usually have my ski down by the lake.. and the house is quite a distance up and it be easier to pull that battery out, charge it, throw it back in. Do you all understand what im saying?

I just cant find what im looking for.. and give me ur oppinions.. thanks

I like to use these, off of UPS battery packs.

they are available online too, larger versions are used for forklift battery packs.

look for AMP connectors, here is a part number for mcmaster carr.

the same ones sold under msd hot products for about $25 less.

this is nice stuff. It is alway the best wave day of the year when you get there your battery is dead because you forgot the bilge or something. I should run one of these in my ski. Always have a spare battery. even if you don't use total lose (no i spelled it right).

its just a convenience thing, I mean, its 2 little screws to remove the factory cables right?

but I mean for $10, if you run total loss, yeah, its probably worth it to swap batteries in and out.

they are just as waterproof as the factory connections?

12 V isnt enough potential to conduct very much current thru water.

you could submerge your battery, stick jumper cables on it, and crank your ski, no problems.

You might consider putting some dielectric grease on the blades of the connectors to ward off corrosion especially on the positive lead. I would freshen up the grease after a few disconnects to keep it coating the contacts.

Not quite as convenient as a qd connector, but I just took my rotatory tool to the factory 'ring' type connector and cut it into a 'spade' type connector. So now instead of backing the terminal screw all the way out I just have to back it out maybe 1/2 a turn and the terminal slides off. Still requires a tool, but it's about 100 times easier now and I don't have to worry about loosing hardware in the hull.
