What “waterbox” Is This?

Pulled this out of my brothers 1993 Kawasaki 550SX... It doesn’t have any markings on it and I’m just wondering what it is?

The baffle inside the first silencer had come loose and was just rattling around in there so I pulled it out... Not sure if that will make a big difference in sound but I could always put something back inside there.

It’s going to be loud. Basically high flow and noisy.
