Lee,

When did you first get on a blaster and when did you start racing blasters?

Old, but still ridin'!!!
First ride - 1987 JS550 in the summer of 1988.

First Ski - 1889 JS440, bought it brand new in early 1990 from RMBC's dad's Kawi dealership. Started racing and competing in Freestyle in 1991 on it. I still have it, it's sitting in my trailer with a seized motor. :frown: Gonna rebuild it and repaint it at some point for my son.

Lee,

When did you first get on a blaster and when did you start racing blasters?

i got my first blaster in 03 sometime from kevin at legdrag, he used to work for wammer then. i raced 2x in 04, and then the whole season in 05.

for some reason i took to the blaster pretty decent. it just feels right riding it. but i will admit i rode it from the start in the ocean.

i used to ride 3-4 x a week with a guy on a sj, that f-er sold his sj and i have not had anyone to ride with since 04. if he had not sold his sj, i would probably still be free riding with him instead of racing. honestly i just like to ride. so i found the guys up at palm beach to ride with an they got me back into racing.

if i lived up there with yamaslut, i would probably be just a freerider. spending way less money and riding alot more and being alot happier.

Rode a JS 440 rental back for years in Ocean City NJ in the mid to late 80’s. Took 10 years of and picked up two JS 500 and brought theme home. Now 6 years late we still have the JS 550’s and an XP and looking for a Square nose:arms:

The only reason I got into this sport is because my local off-road spot was getting shut down. So I traded dirt for water.
I actually first started out on a *cough* "sit-down" *cough* :tomato:

In '92 or '93? = 1991 SeaDoo SPi (sold in '94)

I added several Rossier goodies and installed some huge 93 GTX sponsons back in 93 before sponsons really took off. I first saw a set of (smaller) 92 GTX sponsons on one of Dean's race boats and by the next weekend I had the 93's installed.

It was a fun "tossable" boat but got bored and since getting a SJ, I haven't looked back.

I wasn’t allowed to have any motorized toys until I was 18, damn looking back my parents were smarter then I gave them credit for. So in 96 on the way home from my High school graduation party with my “college” gift money in hand I passed an 89 440 for sale on the side of the road. Think I paid like $400 for it. It ran and came with a big box of parts that I had no idea what to do with so I thought why not. I had never ridden any kind of ski before that. Rode it all summer loved it then it was time to go leave for school so friend offered to buy it minus the box of Aftermarket parts for $800. So basically I got paid $400 to ride it all summer. About 4 years later I run into the guy that bought it from me said he rode it once couldn’t get up so it has been sitting in his shed ever since. I offered him $200 for it and he jumped at it. I still had that box of parts in the barn so I bored the ski out and put all the goodies on it and it screamed, kept up with the 650 and stock 750s my friends had. I have sold it gotten it back 2 times total and I think I might be getting it back again in the spring. That things has gotten more people then I can count off of couches and onto a real ski. Much love to the 440.

I got divorced about 15 years ago, Lost everything in that. Funny thing is, the whole time I was married I wanted a ski, and the wife wouldn't go for it. So, first thing I did after the seperation was go charge 1200 bucks on my master card for an 87 Kawi 650....And the love affair began.
I must've ridden that thing both days every summer weekend for like 4 years:arms: :arms: I sure wish this whole freeride movement was going on back then.
Buy the way, 5 or 6 years ago, I sold the Kawi 650 to Scorn800....Then I ran into him at a race this Summer.....Small world. He sold the 650 and got himself a sweet SXR:sneaky: Wonder who's got it now.

Good old '86 X2. Had just about every part Mariner made.

8 years after that one bit the dust I traded the Welds from my Mustang for a '88 440. Tweaked it and rode it until the thing seized.

Now I have the SJ.

Jen started on an Octane. Still has it to this day....
