FX-1 Widening Rails

I need to do a few repairs to the bond line rails on a carbon FX1 hull I picked up and am planning on widening the rails ~3/4" per side. What would be the best way to go about doing this? Should I try to find some CF strips or make some kind of mold on the side of the ski?

Right now I'm planning on making a foam mold along the side of the ski then laying the CF over the top of the mold and current rail, then removing the foam and reinforcing the bottom of the rail with another layer of CF. This is the first time I have done this so any advice would be helpful...

I think blowsion or wamiltons has a kit to widen the rails. Its basically some denser underpad applied to the outside of the rails and then you turf over the existing rail and new padding. My buddy has them on his superjet and I have something like it on my XFT. It makes for quite a stable ski, if that is what you are after. It ends up being about double the width of the current rail.

I'm wondering wether I should attempt to use CF for the rails or duplicate Scotts efforts. I would probably just use 4" or 6" wide 5.7oz bidirection CF tape. Any recommendations? Best epoxy to use?
