World speed record broken PWC

Got old, bought another ski

Hey I'm not going to lie, I like going on long cruises on my zxi or rxp. I dont need 80mph for that though. Last february me and my brother went and ran all the creeks that lead into the lower end of Bull Shoals lake. We found some pretty neat caves.

i dont see what the big deal is. so he built a fast couch. and it is just that.... a fast couch. i dont see how that benefits our sport in the least. in fact, couches are whats killing this sport/recreational activity and the places we can ride and has been for years.

so, not only can he do 80mph in a straight line, he can also make a slight "big sweeping" turn? woah! can i try?! can i try?!

an 80+ mph couch is even worse than just a couch.

every idiot on a couch just wants to go faster and faster. whats the first thing a clueless person asks about your ski, aside from, "wow, do they still make those things?" its always, "how fast does it go?" its nothing new. in fact, its getting quite old.

here... if it makes anybody feel better.....

congrats on the fast couch!

there.

now, back to reality...

How are you going to get your stuff to the island if you dont have your couch to get them there?:tomato:

i would be willing to make that sacrifice.

..... and get a kawi jetmate. technically not a PWC since you sit IN it and not ON it.

Curious SFL, why aren't you the World Champ in the 1200 class if it is so easy? While I don't ride or own a sitdown, I would say it is safe to say you would look like a newbie out on the race course with Zapata, Farthing, Rius, etc... Probably the last place guy would be lapping you in no time. But wait, it is very easy to ride these boats that fast out on a course and it takes no skill, right? Anyone can do it so why not you? There is a difference between a weekend warrior and a racer, and you seem to lump them all into one category. Do I agree with a newbie going down to the dealer and picking up a 70mph ski with zero skill, absolutely not. That is another thread by itself. If it weren't for the couches being built, do you think Kawi and Yamaha would build just the standups?? Don't think so. They are a necessary evil, like it or not. I suppose we could all live with what is left out there and be happy. Am I going to run out and buy a Hydrospace because I want a new SU, not until the price drops to about $7G's which ain't gonna happen. Still nice to see someone is still developing a SU and hopefully forcing Kawi and Yamaha to take notice. Does 3-5k SU's a year matter as far as sales dollars to either of them to bring a new ski out, probably not. But one can hope.

i guess i came off as lumping racers and rec couchers into one category. thats not how i feel. i know that racing a couch requires a lot of endurance.

the fact still remains that the couchers are ruining it for the standups.

BAN ALL COUCHES....
EXCEPT FOR THE ONES ON THE COURSE!

better?

Tone the Couch vs Standup debate down, been hashed out too many times.

just got one of the Rags in today, has a Mac Racing 15F doing 84.7, and conditions were not the greatest......... Mac claimed 85, so they were about there..........

Yeah, but we still need them to be produced to keep our ski's at a respectable price. Candidly, anyone that goes to a dealer and buy's a 70mph killing machine should have to pass some safety course or get a license or something. I would have no problem doing it myself if I thought it would make the waterways safer. Does anyone know who has the fastest standup? Heard the Euro boys have some very fast SXR's. Should be a good WF this year.

i agree 100% with mandatory licensing, as it is do-able. i realize that as much as someone can hope and dream, you cant just ban sitdowns, unfortunately. :sigh:

i guess licensing is the next best thing, but theres only one problem..... usually the buyer isnt the one driving like an idiot. its usually one of his young kids or the 9 people he brought out with him. unfortunately, they wont be tested.

its a shame that people actually downright REFUSE to be/get educated when it comes to the water.

At least one person is listening!

:haha:

i know im not the only one that feels the way i do about the couches. i know that others feel the same way..... maybe to a different degree, but a very similar sentiment.

anyway, i didnt make my original post to start a standup vs couch war. we already know that couches blow asscheese and standups r where its at. i made that post to explain why i dont feel the need to "congratulate the guy".

i guess "woohoo! another fast couch! how exciting for us standuppers!" wouldve sufficed, but i s'pose that i feel the need to get it all out in one post to back up my position.

hey, at least ONE person is listeneing! right, chick?......... chick????:ugh2:

so ive been building this superjet... people around me know that... one concept they can't grasp though is the fact that i dont care about the top speed, yet they always say "its probably going to be real fast isnt it?"

It's the same with cars, most people don't understand how some cars can handle/drive so well but not be tire-burners. "How many HP is it?" "How fast is it in the 1/4 mile?"
