When you get through blowing the water out, rev it up, hit the stop button with the throttle fully open, it will suck more fuel in but because your hand is on the stop button no spark. Your motor is still creating suction, sucking the fuel mixture in. You just coated the inside of the motor with fuel oil mixture.
IF it going to be a while, pull the plugs, pour some oil down the holes and rotate motor over.

I usually hit the primer a few times when i'm shutting the ski down after blowing the water out. Probably not as good as fogging oil, but but pretty easy.

You guys are funny, that is what I always do. Pump the throttle and shut it off. I do leave it cracked and I cant have a garage at this place, i have one at the other place. Maybe mine was a bad metalurgy on that particular bearing but like I said from now on I will fog. I only fogged in the winter or when I wasnt going to ride it for a while, condidering I went through 3 gals of oil last year I thought I was riding enough not to worry about fogging. I was wrong.

If I am riding the next day then I don't do it. If I know it will be a few days then I do. A can of fogging oil doesn't cost much

If I were single with no kids I would be riding so much that I would not even worry about it. I guess I will settle for keeping my ski in the garage with the hood off.

I dont fog during our riding season but I do before the winter time when I know I won't be riding for a few months. when I fog I always stall the motor out but spraying directly down the carb and then give a short spray down each spark plug hole. It just gives me peace of mind in the off season.

Thats all I ever did to my original 86 x2 I bought in 1996. It lived that way for 10 years, left out in the rain and snow...lol. I'd start it up once a month in the winter. I never fogged it (or flushed it) once... That x2 lived though 20years of neglict.
Now that I have expensive motors, I do fog them if the ski is going to sit for 2months.

I fog the outside of the engine pretty good after every ride. I was gone for a year and I fogged the cylinders of my 650 before I left.

fogging.... whats that. i have a 550 that i have never winterized, fogged, or stored with the hood off. all stock just as it was new (with exception of a hood seal) and runs great (needs a wear ring after 18 years of riding). but thats just an example, i take much better care of my sj that i have 10k in... the 550 was damn near free and i just want to see how long i can beat the shat out of it lol i do crank it up a couple times in the winter. in the summer it never gets a break and neither will my sj, ah the life of a single 22 year old with no debt is great :biggrin:

man i just went out side to crank my ski after all this talk and i tried the kevbo way but forgot i didnt have a rev limiter or heat temp sensor! now i cant even turn over my crank with the plugs out.
what should i do next? do i need to fog it?

im in the same boat as a few here. i dont fog it everytime, but if i know im not riding for a week or so i throw some oil down the carbs. it really is probly not nessicary but it makes me feel better. i also silicone spray the engine bay after each ride too. keeps everything clean. also the hood cracked with the cover over the ski seems to work very well on keeping it dry and aired out.

he said only do it if you have a temp sensor and rev limiter!! he didnt give the procedure for the rest of us!! we need answers.
is there any other ways to make fogging way more complicated then it should be?!
