Yeah, before he said you had a lot of experience- I was just going on the number of posts and your join date... did you just come over from pwctoday?


eh kinda.. i was on pwct since like 02 or somthin.. maby earlier.. then i got rid of my SJ about 3 years ago and then inbetween that time and now the site popped up and just signed up to get back into it..

It will have more power than anything you were use to....... It is just where the power comes on. It may hit hard right off the bottom or hit more as you get into the midrange.

I honestly do not know, they are out of business......... like I said, they were used in race motors where bottom end power was not as important as midrange and top end was. That is not to say that it wont make good power. Just get it, if you do not like it, sell the cylinders and get Team Scream, LPW, Jetworks, Judge Motorsports or some other reputable company to build you a stroker motor using a 61x cylinder.

Not sure on the Able cyl. Thought they were more for racing. :shrug:
Knowing what price you are looking at helps too!

It is hard to tell how that ABLE will run.

I could not think who it was running one, RMBCFreeride has one also.

It all depends on the porting. Odds are it will have lots of power, but will it come on right off bottom or will it need alot of RPMs to come on?

Best bet would be to see if Ryan knows who did the porting and what was the history of this cylinder. Mine was uncut, brand new so I had it ported for more bottom end power like a 61x on steroids. However, Enzos started life as a race motor - he had it reworked a little, and I rode it and think it was really impressive too - all around power.

I have been eyeing that ski all along & trying to get one of my friends here to buy it... nice!

I would just look at dumping the cylinders and head, keep the lower half.....

hard to say what they would be worth, sometimes you see them for 500.00 and others will be 1000.00
 
just curious.. how much would it cost to get a new top end from a company and have it installed? (just weighing out my options before i buy it) i will probably end up just keeping what it has but just wonderin

I wouldn't worry about it at all at this point. A lot of "race" motors make better freestyle/freeride motors than those built as such. Most of the real info and tuning knowledge in this sport comes from guys who have built a million race boats. There is no proving ground or objective way to measure the ability of a freestyle motor like there is for a race boat so those guys are the ones who really know their stuff. It'll probably rip and the powerband can be shifted some if necessary with a good prop/nozzle combo. If an Able cylinder is set up well, it can run as good as any other cylinder.

Rule of thumb, you are typically gonna have a motor that does somethings good but not all....

either a lot of bottom or a lot of top. A 57-60 mph SJ is not going to have the power down low like most of us prefer. just like a Freestyle prepped ski is not going to be hitting 57-60mph either.

Yes, you are correct about playing with props and nozzles can adjust the powerband some.

One of the few Race motors that did make good power all the way through was the TLR Motor that Casey had in that black and yellow ski before it blew. but I do not think that he had as high of a top speed with that one either.

I think you can have most of the best of both worlds. There's no reason a well setup "freestyle" motor can't run in the mid to upper 50's depending on prop/nozzle combo. That's not really that fast. A well set up motor can easily turn mid 7200-7500 RPM with a B pipe. A good bit of the powerband of a race motor is the pipe. Most dry pipes come on a little later, but will turn more R's. There are also only a few of us who want a freestyle "only" poweband like you get with some of the so-called freestyle motor builders. Most of us aren't ever gonna compete and want a boat that rips throughout the entire powerband. Who wants a boat where you can only jump a boats wake once because you can't catch it again?:burnout: Malone says his current boats run in the mid 60's. I don't doubt it.

uh, well, my ski is kinda like that!!!!!!!!!!! lol

your right about the pipe as well...........

my preference is power right off the bottom with no lag........ but it a bitch to keep up with Jason!!!!!!!!!!! usually take the SXR for runs up the lake!
