Got the paint wetsanded and buffed by a aircraft detailer. He really did a great job!

SFscupper.jpgSFboweye.jpg

Installed new Xmetal scupper. This scupper always worked awesome on my other freak. Never had any leaking problems on flat or in the surf.

Boweye installed with SS backing plate. It is always scary drilling holes in a new hull! At least for this nancy!

Pump was installed with final alignment. Installed SBT steering cable, Xmetal trim cable, couch motor mounts with Blowsion kenney keepers. Cleaned up any rough edges in engine area, etc.

Installed 1/2" oem cooling lines to the pump. Flipped pump stator by 180deg. from stock which makes cooling line clear steering cable much easier.

Mocked up carbon rideplate. This one is flush with large dcut, but will be experimenting with longer plate also.

Test fit Jet Dynamics intake grate, looks like alot of fitting to make it work right. Will run my old worx 201 until later.

Chris; how much modification is needed to get stuff to fit these hulls? It seems they are not "plug-and-play" so to say?

so no guide pins used between the stator and wearing and nosel?
I have done this in the past as well but was always a little nervous about it LOL.

No, they do not build like an oem hull. They have improved in fit 'n' finish, but you can still expect some cut, grind, mod, align. Rickters and several other a/m hulls are known for easy builds, but many/most others have some degree of similiar fitment/prep work when building.

That said, you might cuss when building a freak and encounter a 'superfreaky' issue or two, i know i have, but once ski is built and you are riding then you will forget all about them. This is no excuse for not having further refinement of the part of superfreak, but not a reason to avoid them at the same time. Many have built easy to build rickters and others only to ditch them and build a freak after riding them.

This has also been discussed in several superfreak threads:
Superfreak talk: http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/87895-SUPERFREAK-talk

MattE's Great SF thread: http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/92933-Superfreak-Review-Ride-Buying -Experience-Quality

I hear you and agree, but many others have done this already apparently without issue.

Hopefully something big since he just advertised an SS865 for sale...

Edit: you beat me to it... Any details on the motor or is it a top secret test machine?

I'm moved by DASA power!
They are most certainly not plug and play, but it can be done in a weekend, mine was. Just plan on 3 dedicated jetmaniacs, lots of beer, very little sleep and some cussing and lots of aligning/grinding/modifying.

Congrats on finally starting the build, I remember you talking about it before I started mine :) life must be really busy for a jetski part slinging mogul!

The superfreak inserts are strong, but I don't like the minimal surface area for the hooks to bear on when you tighten the bolts for strap hooks. I sanded and used grey epoxy putty to form pads much like the stock hull has.

I am really happy the the finished product. The putty is so easy to work with and it matches the carbon color well.

Used captured straps for the waterbox so they cant fall off in the back.
