Here's my opinion/impression of some:

Wamilton's:
not so innovative, but great service, good quality, good price

Waterdawg:
great innovation, decent quality, good price, bad service

Blowsion:
good innovation, good service, good quality, good price, kind of balanced

24/7 (Chris Maros, before selling)
great innovation, good service, great quality, high priced

Watercraft Factory:
good innovation, great service, good quality, good price

Trinity Composites: Great innovation, Great service, Great Quality, Good price (depending how light you want it! 4 versions of each hull)

Sometimes the quality & fitment of the original manufacturer is not so hot either.

EXACTLY!
I bought this USED Moody Masher's hood:
http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/67587

The price at Blowsion's is Crazy:
http://www.blowsion.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=YA95CO135

I say Crazy because the thing is NOT a perfect fit, far from it.
I will need to replace the Hood seal and play with the Hood hooks to make it fit.
I only pay $300 for it with 2 ride plates and a head included so it was a "good deal".
But I cannot imagine paying what Blowsion asks to find out I need to do all this work just to make it fit right.
I would sincerely send it back if I had bought at that price.

Aren't all SN coming out of the same Mold?

Yes, but the distortion of the top decks is huge on the SN, even more so than on the RN's...

That hood was customized for the original user's boat, so you will have to modify it to fit your boat. Custom is Custom, you will usually have to make small modifications to make it fit.

:sad6:

But here is a bunny with a pancake on it's head for you...

So let me get this right.
A stock hood from a RN or SN ski will NOT be a perfect fit on another RN or SN ski?.....Because of the "distortion"?

Is this "distortion" cause by heat? Impact? Care to elaborate?

I am all for Mods and work on fitting something, but this one is way off and will required more than just tweaking existing parts.

They are not perfect matches, correct. Although the RN's with the fiberglass top decks are pretty damn close...

I'm guessing here, but I would think it has to do with the cooling conditions when the top deck comes out of the mold, and the rate of cooling...

Plastic does some wierd shiat, and I'm not a Plastologist...

That is very interesting....I will have to test it. From now on I will try my stock Hood on my riding buddies stock skis (basically swapping). If right, then it will NOT be a perfect match even tho they came from the same Manufacturer and possibly the same Mold.

My prediction:

They will ALL fit like a glove. Every one I have ever tried did. I'm sure this experience is very common.

No, I don't make those. I'd just like to know if that's the one Mick was talking about.

Business is tuff enough, and innovating new designs is even more difficult.
Stay true to the original, and keep the real innovators in business.
Imagine what else 24/7 would have come up with, if he was still involved.
obviously its not difficult to make parts, just sit down and be original.
Theres nothing wrong with having integrity

I think that the sport is small enough that you need professional curtsy when coming out with a new part. If businesses work together and keep the market from saturating itself everyone will be happier and the sport would be better off IMO. Innovation is great, but how many different hoods, rideplates and steering systems can you have in a small market.
