Super Jet Roundie refurbishing on the cheap

My home away from home.
I've been asked a few times about a build thread, so I'm pulling up my skirt and here we are. And as the title says, it's all done with cost in mind.

I picked it up a couple years ago and since then have done a few mods as my addiction grows. I'll post pics of what I have done and also list what I want to do. This will happen in no particular order, cuz I am kind of a spaz when it comes to organization.

When I got it some cool stuff had been done, but it needed a LOT of love and still does. Also when I got it, I was a total newb and had zero tricks in my bag. Standing up was my only trick when I got it.

Here's how it started.

So last winter it got it's first dose of love. Forgot to mention it's a 760 62t 61x. It has
some porting, not sure who from, but the bottom feels strong.
Returfed and padded.
Redid the footholds.
#0 flywheel.
Cold Fusion coupler.
ADA girdled head.
Some rewiring.
Fuel lines, filter.
Xmetal scupper. Way better than that previous thing.
Trimmer off rear bond line lip.
Widened the back of the tray by holds. This was one of the best mods for sure.
Hooker 9/15.
Stubby cone.

Random notes. My stator came loose twice now. Once in 09 and again last summer. In hindsight I'm thinking my crank is bent and will get into that this winter. And my front seal leaks, cuz it's nasty behind the cover.

Snapped a starter bolt also, which I didn't notice til we were in Oceanside. Good thing it didn't fire. Would have sucked to tow it back, so actually that was a bit of a blessing. But prior to that I have had starter / bendix probs on and off. So I'll be hitting up Jetmaniac real soon. For a bunch of stuff.

Turf padding note. I thought the turf would rip if I padded to the back edge of the tray, that's why I rounded it off short. Bad idea. Running it to the back this winter.

When I was doing the new holds, I noticed that as soon as I started glassing water started coming up from unseen holes / cracks in the tray. So defoaming and refoaming this winter.

One more pic.

This summer 2010 the ski ran awesome 2/3 the way through, which was the coolest thing ever. That hooked me bad! In 09 it was always braking down. But since then I have learned a lot from Orangefinger and others here on the X. Can't thank you guys enough for all the help.

This last summer it got some other random love.
Xmetal steering.
Tom21 hood.
Tom21 front foothold / extinguisher holder.
Shortened my UMI pole.
Maniac strap.

More pics in a second, but you will notice I didn't account for the bend in the pole over the bulkhead. Fixing that this winter. As it is now the bend doesn't form to the hood anymore and sticks up in the back. Especially with the Tom21 hood. Which is SIIIICKKK!

At the end of the season I shortened the back of the hull 3". I wanted to get it in the water for a test, but the snow stopped that, so I'll wait for this spring dammit!

I only did the outside work on the shortening and will finish off the inside work (reinforcing) this winter, when defoaming / refoaming. The blue tape was used to cover the funky foam (pond foam hahaha) that I used to fill in where I cut too deep initially. One of the reasons I cut and shortned before defoaming was to use the existing foam to help shape the glass.

My home away from home.
To do list.

Returf.
Repad.
Defoam / refoam.
New footholds. Waiting to see how theskiclinic does on their new adjustables on a roundie before I commit to anything. But would love to
have something adjustable. I kind of like RRP's. They do feel good to ride in, but they are a bit spendy for me.
Cutting the rails down to the top of the turf line.
#0 trim.
Having my pole straightened out, so it lays in the hood right.
Straight riser bars, cuz I'm old and can roll them back for long lake rides with friends.
New Xmetal water box if cash allows.
Some tubbies. Not sure which ones yet.
Depending on how ambitious I get, I might lower and form the tray under the feet.
Motor work... That's all iffy at the moment.
My thoughts are to either patch mine back together for this season with a new crank (if needed), another #0 flywheel, because mine is a bit rough after
coming loose this last summer and from the previous flywheel coming loose in 09 and the woodruff key messed up the mating surface pretty bad.
Or. I'd like to do a 781 from Jetmaniac / Blue, but I am thinking that might not be in the cards now. Time will tell..
The motor also needs a starter, bendix and stator.
An EPIC would be sweet also, cash permitting. Enhancer is still working for now.
Fix my side ex where it comes through the hull, cuz it is janky as he77 right now.
Fix other random hull leaks that have been a pita.
And strip all the paint off and repaint with single color. Easy repairs and cheap. I think it's had 3 to 4 paint jobs all piled on top of each other now.

That's about it I think. If anybody has any questions ask away. And if anybody has any suggestions, fire away.
