I was thinking about selling my warrior 350 and buying a YFZ 450. I heard from a friend who heard from a friend who heard from a friend that the 1st year of the YFZ 450 had some "issues". Can anyone confirm or elaborate this rumor?

As much as we love the YFZ450 there has been a few minor problems surface. One is a battery problem. Some say this is actually a charging system issue. The second is a problem with the head plug popping out where the manual decompression was on the dirtbike. Check out these links for two quick fixes two these problems.

I don't like dirt bikes as much as quads. I think it might be because you drift with a quad and corner with a bike. In either case...

My Warrior 350 just doesn't have as much oomph as I can handle. I'd like something that is more powerful than my riding ability, rather than being limited in my ability by power.

With that said, I got more info on the YFZ450 and decided that it's not for me. I would love to ride a bike like that on a regular basis, but I've been informed that it is a straight up race machine. It's said to be the fastest stock quad you can buy, but it's actually the fastest stock race quad you can buy. I was told that the quad is not a recreational bike that can easily be put on the track, but rather a race bike that some people ride recreationally. I was told that if I do purchase a YFZ450, I had better be ready to be repacing the race style piston at least once a year. Possibly more often with how I ride. Words from the dealer, who hated to give me info that would stray a purchase, but wanted to make sure I would be informed.

My Warrior 350 will run forever on just oil changes and clean filters. Being in school on a limited disposible income, I don't really want a bike that is going to be a lot of maintance. I want to ride, not wrench.I'd never race pro so it's not holding me back to not upgrade. I certainly would like more power. Maybe one day I'll buy some Elkas and a big bore for my warrior.

I was racing a kid about my age on a YZ250 the other day. He has more time on his bike than I have on mine. It was fun. :drive:

That bike was kicking a roost all over me... :bigeyes2:

until I passed him. :AR15firing:

hey Vumad, 2 stroke race bikes/quads will require regular piston replacement, but if you do it often enough all you have to do is slap a piston and rings and your good to go.

i gotta yfz450 that i rode for a month ill sell ya. seriously though, consider a bike. i grew up on bikes and when the yfz came out i thought, wow, a atv worth half a poop. i was wrong. about as fun as a sea poo on a lake. not to mention dangerous. but slidin them around turns is a blast, i definitely see your point there.

dont put money into your warrior! a big bore will probably just overheat. putting elkas on a warrior is like buyin an xmetal pole for a 3d.

my favorite rec/sport has got to be the suzuki z400. ive ridden alot of them. they're comfy, faster than a 400ex and and handle better in stock form. they last forever and have something all couches should have, reverse! the best all around quad IMO.

I have a Raptor 660 I ride trails and track others in my ridding group have the Z400 and Raptors. I have been on the yzf450 and it was great for the track and dunes but if you ride trails and tight trails you will miss having reverse.

consider a bike

I had a KX125 and a XR100. I enjoyed both of them but not as much as I enjoy the quads. I wish I could have a YZ250 but since I can only one one bike, I have a quad. Remember, I'm down in the sugar sand, it makes it pretty hard to cruise a trail. I like to get on it but not every second I'm riding. The sale of my old, busted ass KX125 paid for my Stand up.

That's why I don't ride 2-strokes, same reason I haven't kept any of the girls arround I have met, High maintance. I don't like high maintance. I like having fun.

you ride a busted up 650sx and you're going to drop 3k on a quad? buy a round nose!

No, I'm not riding anything. It's a broken down 650SX that I'm looking at in my garage. I wouldn't be dropping $3000 on a quad. I'd be selling my warrior and drop $1000 on a quad. I'm parting out what I can from my kawi collection, and if I come up with $2000, I'll spend $3000 on a roundie. If I didn't want a roundie, I'd already have a SN. I'm hoping I can sell some stuff and get something newer. Toys pay for toys.

I eat raptors 660s and 700s, as well as the KFX 700 and all of those other pleasure cruising wannabe race bikes. They corner like tanks. Pray for a lot of straights or be ready for a lap. Suckah!

but if you ride trails and tight trails you will miss having reverse.

The warrior has reverse but it hops the gear when you try to take it out of reverse. I don't use it. I'd rather have the power of a 450 and just not get stuck. The thing that sucks about the 450's is the ground clearance on the rear axle and the width. The get hung up on ricks and narrow passages too easily. My warrior already pisses me off dragging the as$.

My frind had a 400EX. It was much more powerful than my warrior, but come to find out, it had a big bore to 440 and a hotcam.

z400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend is riding a blaster and is looking to get a Z400. It's nice. The liquid cooling is very nice. The quad seems like it has a very high seating position and center of gravity. I've sat on them but not riden them. Not so sure I would like it as much as the warrior.
