Respectfully.

This is NOT politics.

Nobody is running for office.

The voting is over.

This discussion is about ECONOMICS.

And how economic policy and its implementation may impact the prices of goods and services in our SPORT.

The opinions, speculation and concerns of manufacturers and suppliers such as @waxhead is especially helpful.

For instance, I am wondering WHEN he will release his FX1 pump tunnel and bolt in larger pump and WHAT the PRICES will be and what if any IMPORT DUTIES thereon will be.

All of @waxhead's answers will cause me to hurry or delay or even postpone my buying decision.
We will release our pump when its ready. hopefully the tarrifffffffffffs will have been sorted by then lol

It’s going to be interesting, and I’m wondering if China will buckle under the pressure. For the record, I like Trump—in fact, I love Trump—but this is a sledgehammer move: massive tariffs right out of the gate.

Part of me wonders if it might’ve been better to roll them out gradually, say 1% per month, to give businesses time to adjust. But I’m not trying to start an argument—just thinking out loud. In my opinion, any action is better than no action.

As for how this will affect our business personally, we’ll just have to wait and see. One thing I do know—billet poles are about to jump in price.

Also, keep an eye on sellers of ski parts. Watch who starts raising prices, even on parts that are supposedly made in the USA. That’s going to be the interesting part. If their products are truly made domestically, their costs shouldn’t change much. But if they’ve been quietly sourcing overseas, well… a 54% jump in costs might just expose that real quick.

Sorry Wax, but I disagree....... You keep going on about USA Shops supposedly making parts oversea's but claiming to make them here. I do know there are a lot of shops who do outsource, but I am not sure who is lying about it. I think it is pretty well known who does what here.

My parts ARE made right here in Janesville WI USA. We use stainless steel, and Aluminum all of which is going up in price. We'll see but my machine shop is telling me prices are going up.......... Not sure we'll see a 54% jump, but I know things are going to be going up. My guy predicts it will be worse than covid.

Just to be clear, you’re not one of the businesses I was referring to. I’m not familiar with where you manufacture your products. There are a lot of shops out there claiming “Made in the USA,” yet some of them have packaging with Chinese writing plainly visible right on their own Facebook pages. Anyone paying attention can see what’s really going on—and that’s just one example out of many.

At Wax Racing, we’ve always been upfront about where our products are made. No smoke and mirrors. We’ve always found that by being honest and transparent, you never have to worry about being found out. Like they say, when the tide goes out, you see who’s been swimming naked.

How to fix the debt is not rocket science.......it's simple math. Giant corporations report BILLIONS of dollars of profit while only paying 3-4% on taxes. Meanwhile Joe Public has to pay anywhere from around 13-14% on their hard earned money. And the small business owner just trying his hardest to do things right and earn a living will need to pay 15-18% taxes. The rich get richer.........we ALL need to pay a fixed percentage on income PERIOD! Just one guys thoughts.

That is where all the good ideas come form, that's how the 300SX craze was started, that's I found out the Tigershark coupler would work on a Kawasaki driveshaft to adapt in a Yamaha engine , sometimes that's the best way.

I didn't mean to imply that you were at all referring to me..... I am was just saying even though we make parts right here, my costs are going to rise. Our Aluminum comes from Canada. Has nothing to do with China. I am sure other shops/businesses are going to have the same problems.

PJS, ADA, UMI, and many others are genuine USA Companies, and they will be in the same boat.

Get ready for it, prices are going up...... Aluminum, Stainless, and even regular steel are on the rise. We are being told it will increase worse than covid.

Corporate greed is one of the biggest factors that has hurt American jobs and workers, I will give you an example that you won't hear in any news agency.

It happened not too far from here in a little town called Tallassee in Alabama , just outside of Auburn and not to far from Lake Martin and Eclectic where my shop is located .
A man there came up with these bright orange hat covers for hunters , they went over your favorite baseball cap and turned it into a hunting cap, they were very popular and he made a deal with Walmart to carry them in their stores.

So every so often he would stop buy and take the orders for the hat covers, the business grows , he hires more people to cover it and rents a larger building , one day he stopped by to take the hat orders and was told the store would no longer be carrying his product , he asked why , I mean were they not still selling , they did not give him a reason , they just said they were not selling his product anymore.

Shortly after the that building he had been renting was bought out from under him and they closed it up , strange huh , well it gets even stranger because a couple of months later he is in Walmart shopping, mostly because in the tiny town of Tallassee AL. , population 4760 there really isn't anywhere else to shop . what does he see in the hunting section , hat covers, he picks one up inspects it and the label says made in China.

They bought the building he was renting and closed it up putting about 30-40 people out of work , not a big deal in most parts of the states but in a town that small , it is kind of a big deal and for what , greed and profit , that 's what , and that friends is why I no longer shop at Walmart unless I have no other option.

Walmart's big slogan used to be Made in America , yes I am old enough to remember that , some of you were not even born yet , it flipped from that to the point you would be really hard pressed to find goods there that are still made in America , they went over to China and built new factories over there , they shut down jobs here to make a quick buck.

My point is don't blame all of this on Trump, he was always for American companies and American jobs , he did not put us in this mess corporate America did.

IMHO anything that will bring back American jobs is a good thing , maybe that's simplistic but in the long run it will pay off and make us sustainable and not dependent on other countries.

From a non American perspective and from someone who has worked all over the world, including China and the US....600 million Chinese will work for a bowl of food every day. Their work ethic is incredible to witness. Every American who has a job of some sort demands minimum wage and those who don't, get state support in many forms. You guys are expensive !...a guy who carries my bag 10 yards from my car to hotel reception expects 5-10 dollars as a tip . wtf.

Getting US corporations and small business to manufacture in the USA to avoid inflated price points by 50-100 percent for 440 Billion dollars for imported goods from China alone is not the end game for Trump...it's nonsensical. ...it can't be, but I wait and watch to see how it plays out... RRP pole 2000 USD....etc....who will buy it ?

If a small business is paying that much in tax they are doing something wrong. Small business needs to run lean and show no to very little profit. A good accountant can make all the difference in what you pay in taxes.

Those Corp giants have the best accountants getting them every tax break in the book

As for Trump, I think he is what this country needs, give him time. Things are going to get worse before they get better.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people saying that prices are going to go up on parts because of tariffs, but I’m just trying to understand how that applies to products that are made in the USA.

If a part is manufactured domestically, and the tariff is only on imported goods, wouldn’t any increase in cost be relatively small — like maybe 10% if they rely on some overseas materials? I’m not sure how that would justify a significant price jump unless it’s more about reduced competition than actual cost increases.

I’m not trying to call anyone out — just genuinely wondering if I’m missing something. Shouldn’t U.S.-made products stay fairly stable unless the manufacturer is adjusting prices based on market opportunity rather than actual cost?
On another note I love what trump is doing for the USA, I wish Australia had a trump to set help us out

You can only claim a loss for so long, after that the IRS reclassifies your business as a hobby and you can no longer take things off as deductions .

Yes, you are right you can't claim a loss every year but you can make a very little profit
Every small business should be reinvesting the profit in itself- buy new equipment, vehicles, rehab your shop, whatever, but spend your profit so you don't pay tax.
You can give yourself or your employee's bonuses or set up profit sharing but run the business lean.
