I took the PP motor out of my running 1990 550 and replaced it with a reed motor from a non running very clean 1991 550.The flywheel and stator look brand new.The wire that was connected is the copper wire that wraps aroound and around the charging coil and its supposed to be soldered to the...
I soldered the wire to the post it goes too,and still no start.I was brave or dumb enough to stick my finger in the spark plug boot, and it shocked me but not much like I would think it would.would a bad stator give off a little spark but not enough to start the ski.
I was getting no spark so I pulled flywheel and checked stator after checking everything else and found a wire that was not connected on charging coil.Hope this isnt a really dumb question, but could that be the reason the ski would not start.
I bought a non running 91 550 becuase I wanted the reed motor.I put the reed motor in my running 90 550 and it cranks over but i'm getting no spark.Could it be that the reed motor I installed needs a stator? Thanks
can anyone tell me what the signs are for needing a new crank. My motor is making a groaning noise when I turn it off.Could this be a bearing or seal issue?.Its also running a little different. Its been highly modified for three years now so maybe its the crank? It wont stay started anymore when I...
It may be the jetting.Getting closer today to getting it tuned in,but with my old carb I could do subs all day without stalling. Now I do one simple sub and it seemed starved for air or something. No power after going under.Trying again tomorrow hopefully I will iron it out,or that peice of junk...
replaced old bn44 with new sbn44 and so far cant seem to get it right.Could this be a pop off problem? In the water it starts good but will load up and mid and top just isnt as good as old carb.Old bn carb had no low throttle response and very good mid and top.Can anyone help, without telling me...
finally put my ski in the water with the new sbn 44 on my 550 at the settings you advised. It runs great on the trailer but in the water it seams to have a mind of its own.I think I need to adjust pop-off what do you think.? thanks...steve
Thats great thanks for the pic.I'm redoing my lines and getting rid of the on pick-up and going to just use the reserve.Kinda lost track of one of the lines.Where does the return line from the carb hook up too?
I appreciate your help and have another question..Where to hook up lines to new sbn 44 carb..There is the one on the fuel pump on the left and the ones on the right, top and bottom...I know where the primer goes lol....
