^^^ that's a really good point. I built my fx1 farther than anyone should. 850 DASA, 144 pump, etc, etc. and it's not much more fun. Doing it over I'd keep mods on the mild side and enjoy attempting to master it.

Impact guns can damage cranks. Use a flywheel stop or piston stop and a 1/2" long handle ratchet.

A mod chamber will fit, just have to muscle the tank on a slight angle. Or you can get a SJ tank, move the battery box back .5" to fit the tank, and use a limited or mod chamber with ease. Plus you get an extra gallon of ride time.

I would try a 10/16 hooker for flatwater. If riding surf then an 11/17 hooker may be smoother. The limited pipe signs off early, so on my ski I found a steeper prop like the 10/16 works well with the PV motor. IMHO

Limited or Mod chamber?

B pipe all the way. You can fit a mod or limited chamber easy if you switch to a SJ tank. If not, mid will still fit, but tight. May have to shift tank a little.

Getting through chop or enjoying riding through it? SN will get through chop easier, the FX1 will get through it with more effort on your part, and will be more fun doing it.

Then between the 2, I'd go for the FX1. I've had them all, and thought the SN got a little boring on flatwater. It's really stable, but feels heavy. Doesn't pop or jump as well. The fx1 is fun because it's a challenge, nimble, feels light. In surf if go SN all the way, for stability. Good way...

I grew up with a wetsuit and never thought about it. Lived in Santa Cruz and they were more common than shorts. Honestly, it's a little strange for me to see guys wearing board shorts over their wetsuit, but to each his own. Feel comfortable, don't worry about others.

I completely agree. I tried them out and experienced no significant difference in water intake.

Planning to ride surf or flat? Makes a big difference.
