That sounds correct! Regarding weak spark, I was told it COULD be a weak starter.. (Worn out brushes?) not turning the wheel over fast enough to create a strong spark at startup.. -

It's my understanding there is one coil for the charging system going to the rectifier. And another coil for the spark, going to the CDI. A bad charging system wouldn't necessarily give you no spark, it would just cause your battery not to be charged. If I'm reading the diagrams correctly... -

Did you check the voltage coming out of the Stator? I experienced the same thing this past weekend. Ran fine for 90 minutes. Shut it down, never did fier back up... until we got it home. In the backyard it fired right up.
