Finally got things sorted.
Unless you have professional tools, don't try to expand the pump housing. I instead used a flat sander to carefully sand off the excess from the prop blades. Make sure to mark well how much to be taken off.

The Solas 9/15 impeller that I bought new is up to 1 mm too large in diameter to fit the pump housing.
It is advertised to fit my '97 750 SXI (year based on hull id) and I wonder if I should either grind the impeller edges, sandpaper the inside of the pump until it fits or just return it.
