How do you inspect the impeller and wear ring?

Thanks for the input! Sorry that may have been confusing.. I was asking if there is there any reason not to buy a SN and separately asking the differences between '96-'08 and +'08 RN. But you cleared that up mostly.. so what's pros and cons of buying a SN?
