02 SJ Good deal?

My buddie just picked up an 02 SJ stock engine, blowsion bars zero degree, finger trigger, handlepole spring, hooker prop, odi grips, works extended ride plate, dakine footholds and bilge pump (currently not working), but the guy isnt running an intake grate.?? He paid 2700. You guys think thats a good deal? and why wouldnt you run an intake grate? strikes me as odd...

He might have pulled off the grate to use on his next ski, then put the stocker back on.

nah, he said never ran a grate. And he is getting out of the stand ups. buying a boat, not another ski. kinda weird huh? any reason to not run a grate?

As long as nothing is broke with the intake grate mounting I wouldn't worry about it. It wouldn't have hurt anything...wouldn't lose sleep over it.

it would ride really wierd .. but still run =) Compression test and inspect the underside for bad mounts and damage , if that checks good then pay the man

Yeah I saw that ski for sale on Craigslist. I was going to try and buy the hooker prop off him but I guess I'm a little late. Seems like a good deal. RN SJ's dont come up for sale in Maine to often. Yeah my bad, foot straps not foot holds. That is the craigslist ad. You almost never see round nose SJ's for sale in Maine. I was looking last year with no results and found my 08 in New Jersey. Spent more money than I wanted to but its an 08 and super clean. and you cant find them around maine/NH. Now I got a nice clean one in MAINE! :headbang:

Seems like a good deal to me. Round nose SJ are a rare breed in Canada. I dont think you can even buy them new here. ( could be wrong though).

Heebs your right about them not being available in Canada. You can't even find em on Yamaha.ca.... But once you bring em over the border their prices usually skyrocket.
Just bought my first SJ this past week. Hoping to pick it up in Ohio later this week.
