08+ handle poles

What is the difference in the 08+ handle poles on the superjets. My square pole is cracked and probably won't last much longer, someone mentioned the 08+ won't work without the cable. Is this true?

Also, avidly looking for a RN pole/ conversion bracket, or even a square pole someone would part with! Preferably RN, but a cheap SN pole to have if it's the last resort would work, don't wanna be down during riding season.

08 pole is 2 inches shorter and the way the steering cable lock is set up on the top part of the pole with the stock cable, there isn't much throw. The distance from the steering cable lock to the turnplate holes is shorter on the 08+ pole. You can use an 08+ pole with an older cable, but i believe only if you make a bracket that extends the turnplate hole further out and over?
IMO, it'd just be easier to go with a pre 08 pole. If you have to you can grind the stock square bracket and bottom of the pole to fit. But a hazard bracket makes life easy.... I love mine.

Thanks! Yeah I'd love to get ahold of a hazard bracket, but they are harder to find than the poles. Plus I want the cheapest way to try and get a RN pole on since I don't plan on sticking with this hull too terribly long.

Those of you who are running the RN conversion, how much length did you take out of the pole? Seems 4" is a standard?

I'm running a RN hull w/RN pole and I took out 3.5" and am kicking myself for not taking more... I'm 5'8" for what it's worth.

Edit: its a pre-08 pole and hull.
