08 SX-R hand pole cracked....

What the ? Has this happened to anyone else? Wasnt in surf just local lake riding in Michigan. Cracked right where the pole attaches to the ski, all the way through the fiberglass. This is bullllllll. Anyone have an RRP for sale? Haha

You can do the RRP in stages if you like. Brian at Thrust Innovations has the best prices around. www.thrustinnovations.com You can buy a pole for around $725 and get the bracket and chinpad later, Your chinpad should fit in the meantime as well.

I have the entire steering system if you want to switch to a SJ pole either a UMI, AC or X Metal.

I recommend an X-Metal -2. I broke 2 UMI poles also.

Its just B.S. how the make them so weak. I really want an RRP but im not about to shell out for it right now. Do alot of people do the SJ conversion?

YES. Your ski will handle 100 times better. Get the XMetal. its lighter, looks great and costs about half. BTW the new X Metals are adjustable like the RRP. It'll be the last pole you ever buy.

If you want a used steering system for the conversion, pm me. I have everything you need except the pole.

If you do get another stock pole then definitely put on a limiting rope. Saved my pole more than once!!

sell the SXR and buy a SJ :jester:
or wrap the pole in epoxy and glass (or carbon fiber) to reinforce
and ride!!!

Even with a limiting rope, the stock SXR pole is prone to crack in other spots. I had a rope on mine, and the area that held the bracket for the steering cable cracked and separated. Small cracks were also present in the area near the pivot, and it was only a matter of time before those got worse too. Do yourself a favor and just hunt on here and Craisgslist or even Fleabay for a used aluminum pole- it makes a world of difference.

i have to tell you, if you are looking for a handpole for the SXR, i think the Dales Bad Attitude is the best pole to get $ per $
it looks great once its on the ski, is strong, super easy install, and a nice total package overall
she really likes it on her ski...
and yes... the stock pole is garbage.... she broke hers jumping and thrashing around in some waves

The stock pole is not strong. It's good for lite rec riding or bouys.
Installing a SJ pole is not that hard. Just takes some time and the converstion steering. I have a AC sj pole on my surf boat & a RRP on my limited. The ac is super strong & cheap. The rrp is trick but pricy. I haven't had problem with either & like both.
I do recommend the TBM steering. Very nice product and doesn't turn to rusted crap like the umi.
