Way cheaper to just buy a running STX. That way you will have a complete engine, Complete electronics and the needed STX drive shaft. I see running STX's on Craig's list from time to time in the $1300-1500 range

Donor ski is your best option. I scored a complete running stx 1100 for $300 a couple months ago.

Wow that's a smoking deal but definitely not the norm. Congrats! A running STX for under $1500 is still dirt cheap

ZXI 1100 also...they tend to be even cheaper. Earlier models (96 only I believe) had non-CV cRbs

You're going to need the STX drive shaft so yes, an STX is a better donor. A ZXI will work fine it's just you will have to spend additional $ to buy an STX drive shaft. Go over to PWC Today and read through the build threads. There's a few that are pretty good. They detail everything you need for a build so it's a no brainer. Check this one

Damn 1200$ and you have to turn in a core. I paid 800$ for a running 97 zxi 1100 a couple months ago. The hull had a huge crack in it though.
