140/140 compression. Horrible Vibration. No Power.

Hey all,

Did a 701 swap on a buddies ski and took it out this weekend. Sad to say, the thing was not delivering the power it should. He said it best, it felt like the engine was "drunk."
No carb tuning would help it run. The motor has a pretty dramatic vibration at idle, and under WOT it basically gets up to (what should be) quarter throttle speeds. Any ideas on this? Here's what we know:
-Horrible Vibration at idle
-Smooths out a bit in the higher RPM range
-Motor supposedly has 2hrs on it since rebuild
-Minimal amount of power (he misses his 6m6)

Any ideas for starting points? Preferably one's that don't require a complete tear down?

Well you have compression so next would be spark and then finally fuel.

Did the carbs get rebuilt after the engine rebuild? Sounds like it's really rich. May wanna take the flame arrestors off the have a peek while running. If it's dumping fuel you may have a leaky needle and seat.
