Hi guys trying to install my 148 pump shoe for my AM SJ based hull but am having a problem that the pump with seal is not fitting with the bolts and the pump shoe is not flush,as shown in the pictures.
It’s a long tedious process and if you’re are perfectionist it will take even longer. I put a 148 in my Badass and it looked worse than yours but It came out ok.take your time make sure the pump is in alignment before you glue it I used 5200 takes a week to dry. Your going to have open up that pump tunnel (sanded) that nice gel coat into the fibreglass maybe your judgement there. Then repaint I used epoxy resin as nobody can see it. On the bottom I ground the aluminum shoe all the way down even with fibreglass. My intake grate hangs way down low but it’s a freak and is glued to the water .I used a 4 inch 80 grit sanding disk for the aluminum and a 2 inch drum sander to match up the pump tunnel. I sanded not grinded SLOWLY check and recheck fitment There should be plenty of info to research here On the X
