2003 vs 2004+ SXR 800 Electronics

I have an 03 SXR 800 that needs a new stator (LTB if anyone has one) Are there any benefits to converting to 2004+ electrics, or should I just stick with what I have?

Thanks

Stick with what you have. That’s what most if not all of us raced with before aftermarket cdi’s were legal.

Never heard of an 03’ stator failure either

My ski will not start, and when trying to start and I let off the start switch it will bump like it wants to start. I swapped e boxes with a spare, and the problem persisted, so I'm assuming the stator went bad. Had a similar issue in a Yami, and it was the stator, so that's what I was going to try out.

Wouldn't mind having a spare anyway if it turns out that is not the problem. Not sure what else it could be though.

Courtesy of Jetski Solutions:

"Another interesting point is the "sparks when you let off the start button" syndrome. This always means on of two things......the cdi is bad, or the pulser coil is bad, or the wire from it to the e box is open."

Thanks for the info. I tested with a different CDI, so its leading me to believe it's the stator.

Do you know if the 2004 electronics have 5 wires? I'm getting a lot of conflicting info.

I bought a stator off of a 96 SX, and it has 7 wires (4 pin plug, and 3 pin plug).

The one from my 800 is the one on the bottom, and the 96 750 is on top.
