Is there any requried service to the midshaft on an 05? And when did they start using aluminum waterboxes?

They started using aluminum waterboxes in 1996.

The service to the midshaft consists of putting some grease in it every now and then.

dont get carried away with the grease on the midshaft bearing. about a half to 3/4 shot from the grease gun at the beginning of the season and mabye half way threw the season will be fine. if you put too much in you can blow out the seal.

We have a hand pump that is great for pump service since you can feel the pressure, but where is the Zerk?

Yes, that's bad. The grease isn't for the bearing itself. It goes into the space between bearing and front and rear seal. If you got grease coming out, the seal is blown out.
You should fix that.

can i just put them back in the proper place or do i need to buy new ones. yes im a tard!

You need to remove the midshaft housing and then you should be able to push it back in. Even if you have to buy a new one, they're not expensive.

ok....i took it off and after wiping all of the grease off this is what i have. i added some grease to show where it is coming out of the seal at, the center right next to the shaft. it look ok to me....or is something not right??

It certainly doesn't look blown out. I would put it back in that way. :dunno:

Looks ok. How do the bearings feel when you turn it by hand? If they feel smooth put that sucker back in an go ride.
