I just bought a 2008 roundnose pole for my square. It is coming with an xmetal lowered bracket which I'm not sure I will be able to make work. I am currently looking for a hazard bracket. My questions is with the 2008 pole will I be able to use my current steering cable or will it require me to buy a 2008 + cable?

Your subject makes it a confusing post. People probably glance at this and think you want to know how to put a RN pole on a square. I don't know the answer, I think you might have better luck posting a RN -SN cable thread... GL

No it will work. I put a rrp pole on my square and it was fine

Read the OP. He will not be able to use the current steering cable without some modification, so it won't just "work".

The distance between the turn plate and steering cable mount is about 2" closer on the 08+ pole so you'll need to use a newer steering cable or find a way to move the cable mount.

Someone (I think #zero) made a bracket to move the cable mount down into the pole, solving this issue. If you could move it an inch, you could make a bracket on the turn plate that moves it back an inch.

Fx1 pole (same as 08+) with SN steering cable. Scrap aluminum and a hack saw.

Thanks for the replies. Next question is would it be more beneficial to create a custom bracket for the square nose steering cable or buy an 08+ cable? Will the throw be greater with a SN cable?
