2014 fixed steer Aquabot V2

After a couple of seasons beating on the fs sj it was time to step up to an aftermarket hull.
While spending a lot of time with tony from tigercraft at some of the freerides, and riding a few of his skis. I finally pulled the trigger on a bot. I am fixed steer for life, so naturally another fixed steer aquabot is born.

After picking up my hull 2 weeks ago, I have finally had time to get some time in on it. Our crew has already built one fixed bot here, and have over 24 hrs in fabbing a hood. This time it was decided to try something else, and this is what we came up with.

Have a long way to go.....

what the hell did you do to that thing. you must really have some urge to have something in between your legs.

you accomplished stealing my thunder. guarantee you get twice as many views as thread will because your chadgnarly. This was my first idea but i started to realize that a simple foam block wont be strong enough to hold up the pole when it is under a heavy load. the foam will give too much vs. an aluminum box. Gotta remember, King of Snacks, I'm a much bigger guy than you. also a lot tougher on my stuff.

my second thought was i would hate the behind the pivot steering and needed to have a stem. Too many times the while riding pole skis i felt the bars swung vs. pivoted. I thought about just ordering the blowsion OVP an run a set of risers but was not about to drop $1500 on something that might work. needed to make up over 10" from the top of the hood to the center of the bar mount.

Originally wanted to use a modded yamaha UMI, and have the poles top plate set my angle. Problem was, with it being a straight stem, the pole would be at such an awkward angle. it just didnt look right. So then i moved to the x2 stem. was able to leave the plate flat. get the angle from the stem base itself, and get the correct bar height without having to have the pole to far off of the hood. I was gonna do a simple box and wrap in turf so it would look like a normal pole pad, but the box ended up bigger to distribute the load more on the hood.

Drivetrain is gonna be a TPE 701. single 48 novi. c4 chamber. 144 setback mag. 9/15 hooker.

Intresting concepts gentlemen...I though this was going to be a full on fixed steer hood on an aquabot. Interested to see how these turn out.

the orginal idea was that with the adjustable pole, this set up would be able to bolt up to different skis with little modification. clearly not gonna be the case now.

tpe 701. tpe meaning erik ported it.

How does the pole and steering stay secure to the hood? Hard to tell in these photos. Cool concept though, can't wait to see how you gentlemen proceed!

When in doubt, Throttle-out.
Wicked idea... Get rid of the nasty seat and throw a honda or KTM dirtbike seat on it with some chromed out rear support bars (multi purpose as grab bars too)...

I drew something up that looked just like this not too long ago... You clearly know what your doing, and I'm clearly just a peanut gallery haha.

Definitely subscribed.

Consider where the handlebars are relative to the ski, you want them ahead of halfway(like a WB1) to achieve a good CG of rider and ski. I just moved my steering another 4" forward on my Gen2 X-2, took 15min of riding to get used to it. Ski spins easier and lands flatter on 360 attempts.

The handlebar position we figured out on dans blue fixed steer bot and its pretty darn close. However with this pole it will have some adjustability
