2018 SXR 1500

Hi everyone
.
I recently found out from my local dealer he will be receiving a batch of 2018 sxr's pretty soon and I'm seriously considering grabbing one.


I have been riding for a few years, a 650sj Sn and a 300sx, aside from the obviously insane increase in horsepower and weight how would you guys rate these new machines compared to the others? More weight is harder to throw around but do you still find it as fun as the older machines? I know going 60mph down the lake would be fun but only for awhile, Iet me know what you guys think, also, the pole on these looks like it's just a tad longer then I would want it to be (long arms) is there lots of mod parts for these yet? I was optimistic and kind of wanted one but after I rode it I didn’t want one for recreational riding. It doesn’t like to go slow, but it hauls some serious ass. I rode a stock one and Taylor Curtis’s racing setup (pole, steering,tune) and liked that better.

I’d try to ride one before you buy.

I guess I should add that I have no interest in back flip type stuff (I doubt this could even do it anyway) but as long as you can somewhat toss it around and do the odd jump how did you find it in that sense? 99% of my riding is smaller flatwater lakes if that makes any difference as well

1500 is great for ripping turns. But keep in mind it is 500+lbs. It not not nimble and not really going to be a wake jumper. Neither is an SXR800. If you want to rip turns and cruise and just have fun. Get the 1500. If you want to play, Get a SJ...........

I don't know how many they sold new here in Australia, but I can assure you there have been plenty put up for sale after only months, or even weeks, of ownership. Haven't spoken to any owners, so can only assume the 'ski did not meet expectations. Strikes me as a niche product.

1500 is more like a small sit down, to big and heavy, great for shredding and going straight line speed, I'd rather be on a new superjet.

I just broke mine in. Have been riding stock 550s, Superjet, and Sea Doo spark up until now. It is faster than my CR250 2-stroke. It is a magical arm pump generator.

Real talk though it is extremely fast, and horespower solves the weight problem. I felt like throwing up after 20 minutes just trying to hold on. Solution is to get low and forward. It jumps fine if you nail the trough of a wake and the throttle at the same time to launch it.

I think a lot of the negative reviews come from people that didn't ride stand ups before and arent realizing the learning curve imho. This ski is seriously addicting, only thing I can think of that has similar power delivery is my father's Tesla.

I just finished breaking mine in as well and its amazing. It's a different type of challenge but the most fun I've ever had on the water. Get the pole spring to help with the weight and this thing is awesome for cruising anywhere, at speed. She handles rough stuff just fine.
