3 layer head gasket, sealer needed?

I need to change my head gasket on a yamaha 760 engine. I have a 3 layer steel head gasket from Vertex. Does it require sealant like 1211? All layers, or just the outer layers? I'm sure this has been answered many times before but my searches came up empty.

No sealant required anywhere. That is a embossed crush seal SS gasket. Just make sure your cylinder and head mating surfaces are clean and that you torque in the proper sequence to the proper specs.
