Ask Momar.
Unless Yamaha and Kawasaki also plan on offering a two stroke option in addition to the four stroke then Four stroke stand ups are a bad idea. Just look at the Hydrospace. That pig is useless unless you’re a racer. A four stroke stand up would ruin our sport and everything we are all about. It seems to me too many people are willing to “cave” to the tree huggers when we should be banding together and fighting them. If watercraft enthusiasts, moto cross and off roaders as well as even companys that make weed wackers would all band together we would be a formidable foe for the tree huggers and environmentalists to go up against.
their tag line was "made for racing" for a reason..... had nothing to do with treehuggers or what not.....
I think the 2 stoke can be saved it just has a bad image. If they would come out with an direct injection 2 stoke motor it would have less emisson's then a 4 stroke. The fact is 2 strokes are no longer sold in NY or CA. I would gladly welcome some kind of standup that can be legally bought within the state. Their will be a day when all conventional 2 stroke jetskis are done being made in the US. Hopefully there will be at least something around to keep the new blood interested in the sport.
The point he is getting across, is that they are only good for racing. And that a 4-stroke superjet would not benefit any of us.

40% of KTM sales wre 2-stroke in 2008. They are looking at bringing out a 300EXC DI in 2011. The technology is there to kill 4-strokesSo you would rather no Superjets at all? Freeriding/Fresstyle is a niche and a very small percentage of the overall sport (all PWC) just like FMX is to MX. the Japanese big 4 and KTM are almost all 4 stroke because racing is the big part not a few back flippers. This site give a very narrow view due to a small circle of influence of a small number of guys opinions. Show this on PWCtoday and this thread would go a very different way. It's not a matter of pouting about 4 stroke stand ups, it come down to making what is available work for what we all here like to do with said stand ups. The environmental issue and the popularity of 4strokes isn't going away and if Yami or Kawi put out a ski we should all praise a new life into our shrinking sport. It's just too bad they don't invest in some of the new 2smoke technology applied into the snowmobile industry which is very heavily regulated but still offers great high power options. But I guess it doesn't matter cause they aren't making anything anyways. Until then I'll just be stocking up for the 2stroke judgement day.
You have no idea how many aftermarket parts are made for couches. Much of it is geared toward racing, and it's huge. Custom hulls, carbon hoods and seats, superchargers, handling parts, pumps, etc. You name it, it's out there. And DASA / ADA / Team Scream all build cylinders for couches (yam twins).
