440 flyweel. how do i get it off ???!!! (<--newbie)

ground wire coming from my stator, to my cdi, friedout big time. assuming the stator is toast. how do i get off the flywheel? do i need a special tool? just tryi to get the stator out to get a new one it. and should i even ask how these 440's timing gets set ? or am i just gettin in over my head ?

You can use a auto harmonic balancer puller, find some long metric screws into the threaded holes in the flywheel. Be careful not to thread the screws in too far as they will hit the stator.

If it is actually just the ground wire that went it could be your main ground path (battery cable) is bad. Check into that first. The battery, engine block, and electric box all need heavy gage ground connects. Forget the one between box and engine then that poor little stator ground burns up when you hit the starter..
