46 Novi's vs 46 Blackjacks

Alright so I found a set of 46 novi's and 46 blackjacks and I'm trying to decide between the two. They are both about the same price and just trying to figure out what will be best for my application.

I'm going to be running them on a sport spec blaster. The ski will primarily be ridden on a bouy course, but will occasionally be ridden in the surf when I can make it down to FL. Just looking for a good setup that will pull hard all the way from the bottom to the top.

Thanks

I've run both, and I'd take the Blackjacks. I only use Blackjacks on boats that I'm doing carb upgrades on now...They're so much easier to tune, cheaper to start with, and hit really well right through the rev range.

so far it is 4 to 3 favoring the Novis... let's see where this ends up.

Just how many of those favoring one over the other have actually run both on similar setups to give a valid comparative opinion?

I, for one, have not. I run dual 46 BlackJacks, but since I have not compared them to 46 Novis, I can hardly give any input on the thread topic "46 Novi's vs 46 Blackjacks"

I would expect the # of people that have run both, on the same exact setup to be relatively few people. So, in the spirit of a "true" A vs B he may have wait around quite sometime before he gets that kind of comparison.

That does not mean someone can't/shouldn't post their positive results with either brand. I run a Hooker 9/15 prop on my ski, that does not stop me from posting positive remarks when people ask for feedback on props. I always post that I have not used some of the other popular props, but my results have been very good with the Hooker on my setup.

Hopefully people will post constructive remarks, when making their comments so the readers can draw a decent conclusion.

I ran 44 blackies, and I have since acquired a set of 46 blackies, so yea, I like the blackies.

to be fair, I've never tried Novi's, but I've never needed to.

What kind of difference did you see between the 44's and 46's? I was talking to Art at Jetworks and he recommend 44's for my setup. What type of setup were you running the carbs on and would you happen to have the 44's for sale?

The 44's tuned in a little easier, in my opinion.

I had the 44's on an unported 760 cylinder with 62t cases, rad valves, total loss, and 200psi of compression. The 46's are on a fully built big bore 61x cylinder with ported cases, total loss, VF2's, and 200 psi compression

I traded the 44's for the 46's

I have 40mm mikunis modified by Jetworks and they are perfect. They tune easy and hit at any rpm. I have ridden boats with both Novis and Blackjacks and I think the Blackjacks hit harder down low. They were different boats and you can't make a decision on carburation on that alone but if you try to judge the way the boats carburate at part throttle you get a good idea. I felt the novi boat was easier to load up if you left it idling for more than 10 seconds. The Blackjacks did not load up no matter how long you left it idling, I found that very impressive to the point I am getting dual 44 Blackjacks for my next project.
