550 power

I have a bit of a long question, I have a 1987 js550 and I would like to try to get more power out of it without doing a full 650 swap. I've seen different kits online for a 750 that would take it to a 840. I was wondering if something like this could be done to a 550 by boring it out. If so what is the max that it can be bored? what pistons could be used? and what would the approximate gain be? I appreciate any replies to this question thank you.

Hey Jacob honestly for the amount of money you would waste trying to get more power out of that little motor you would be better investing the money into a newer ski that already has the power you want. You would have to spend a few thousand on a swap or boring for a marginal gain when the same amount of money culd be put towards a ski that already has a 650 or 701. Ive been in your spot with various motorsports and rather than modding the hell out of your motor and making it unreliable its more cost effective to start with something stock thats already more CC and reliable.

I wasted a season buying/modding a superjet when i should of just went right to an AM hull to begin with. on the plus side my GF has a ski to ride.

Enjoy the ski as is and get your skills up and save your pennies for a new setup. you'll want a different hull very soon anyways, you'll thank me later!

Alright seems fair thanks for the response!

Don't try to boost the power! Instead ride, ride, ride, and then after you did it that many times do it that many times and then X100.
I felt the same way when I first started and a lot of people will tell you the same.
Learn how to ride your machine before throwing more power at it.

Ride that thing until you can confidently enter a race and finish top three.

When you're actually ready for more power sell the ski you currently have and then buy another one.
It's a giant cycle that you'll soon understand.
