61x and yamaha motor questions

Hi just bought a fx 1 with a 701 61x motor. Has been sitting for ten years and appears that it had taken on water. Anyway I have the cases all clean and it good condition. Problem I'm running into is the cylinders. They have a little bit of rust towards the bottom, and some minor scoring on the 1 closet to the flywheel.

Since I'm building this for myself I want it done right, what are my options. Few questions as well, are these cylinder the nikisal plate ( like a dirt bike ) because on sbt marine they had sleeves for them but it said they were cast iron

2. should I bore out, resleeve, or replate.

3. Im also adding new pistons, should I got cast or wiesco forged.

Cylinders are not plated. Bore them and you are good to go.

Many opinions on pistons, cast are OEM equipment and are usually the choice for a stock type application. I have Pro-X piston kits in stock for a great price (OEM cast piston).

Bore them out. You can have them re-nikasiled for about $80 a piece, and with cast piston you usually can just hone them out if things go bad and put in new pistons as opposed to having to rebore.

^wrong info. No nikasil cylinders on a Yamaha 701

If you want a stock 61x complete engine to install while you build this one I have one for $400 plus actual shipping. I've seen your posts on the Facebook group.
