Custom/Hybrid 62t Case filling.

Can i use my west systems 105 epoxy and 206 hardener to fill my case voids? Or does it have to be like Devcon or JB weld? It looks like regular fiberglass epoxy was used in this case.

Use JB weld make sure it is not JB quick, and a heat gun to get the air bubbles to rise to the top.

x2 on regular JB weld...
It expands and contracts at the same rate as the case so it will not try to crack and break apart!
We use JB on mx heads with great results as long as good prep is taken

would there be that much of a difference? I think the regular epoxy would pour in better?

Devcon aluminum liquid would have worked better IMO.

I'm sure what you did will last for a while but if it ever gets exposed to fuel or high heat that stuff going to come loose or get soft.

If you warm the jb weld up before you pour it in it will flow alot better, be sure to make a keyway in each section to prevent it from coming loose. Clean parts well with acetone.

What do you mean keyway?

A small notch in the case of each area to be filled, parallel to the cylinder gasket. Prevention of it popping out, mines done like that, may be overkill.

Exactly. Nothing to do with what zero said. Just to make sure your epoxy will never come loose.

Alright i got what your saying. THanks. So i should use jb weld? Also does anyone have any used Girdled heads they want to sell. Thanks.

I used 105 with 205 slow hardener..


I haven't used the engine yet but that is rock solid and i can't see it being a problem at all - And my cases are ported to the max...

Sometimes the cases are breached through to an open area when porting, the epoxy keeps it sealed. And it is also used to give the Cases some structural strength when they are ported very thin as shown in the picture in the first thread. Maybe someone else will chime in with other reasons (didnt think it was top secret!)
