62t reduction nozzle fins. Keep? Bore turn nozzle?

I have one of thrust innovations tri and it came with the fins in the reduction nozzle. I see people cut them off and my question is why? Is it worth me to grind them off or just keep them. Upgraded to a 144 mag pump and just want to get the best Perfomance possible. Also bore a the turn nozzle. What does this help with and also worth doing it or not. Thanks

For the price, you might be further ahead to pick one up properly taper bored by member #zero from JetManiac. Cutting the fins out will allow for a little more water volume through the reduction nozzle but will take away from straight line stability. The fins help to stabilize the output flow and direct it more into a proper round jet stream. When you remove them the following stream trail will flatten out very soon after exiting the nozzle taking away from nozzle pressure and output stability. With a #zero nozzle you get a good balance of both more volume through the boring out portion but also get the stability and pressure from the fins. The nozzles are shaped from the OEM with a slight taper as a design point, #zero retains that taper. Just going with a straight open bore sometimes will (depending on pump configuration) ruin the pump efficiency. Here are a few worth while links to check into, they have some good info to gain including the JetManiac parts thread details. Good info and a direct link to his parts page :)

I just got my reduction nozzle back from @#ZERO, haven't tried it out yet but it looks amazing. I can add a pic tonight at what the inside looks like. Fins are trimmed just a little and the tapered bore is butter smooth. I shipped it to him on a Saturday and received it back the next Saturday. Extremely quick work too!
